Syncing across devices
My father wants me to be able to access his 1Password on my own laptop. We both have Macs. I have been able to login since we installed it on my computer one year ago, however all the information on 1Pass on my computer is his old account information, as 1Pass on my computer hasn't been updating with his Dropbox sync.
My father just purchased a second license for me so that we can try to get the updates on my end, but it's still not working. Please let us know how to address this as soon as possible, as we don't know if it was necessary for hi to purchase a second license.

Hi @shefelen,
A 1Password licence allows the licence holder and up to five family members in the same household to use this single licence so if this describes your situation at all then we should start getting that refund processed.
In parallel we need to look into why Dropbox sync isn't working for you at the moment. So I have a couple of questions to help us better understand the situation you're facing.
- Do you share a Dropbox account or do you have separate Dropbox accounts? If you have separate Dropbox accounts does your father sync his vault into a Dropbox folder that he shares with your Dropbox account?
- If you open 1Password's preferences on your Mac and switch to the Sync tab does it say if sync is set up for the vault that contains your father's items?
I believe the answers to those two questions will greatly help us understand what might be the cause and what is required  Your situation isn't odd at all so we shouldn't have too much hassle helping get things up and running again

Hi This is Eyal The Papa.
We do share same dropbox acct and I could see my Keychain files on her laptop.
I couldn't merge when I sync on her laptop the old file took over
I deleted all entries on her machine and now when I sync on MY laptop I get an empty file...
I had to shut down sync and restore from backup
Please advise THANKS0 -
Hello @flywheeler,
If deleting everything in your daughters vault resulted in your vault being empty then it would suggest that some syncing was occurring - unless I'm misunderstanding something.
Here is what I would recommend though. What we know is you've restored from a backup so at the moment syncing is disabled on your copy of 1Password. This happens when you restore a backup as we discovered first hand what happens if you don't - a vicious cycle where what you were trying to undo repeats itself due to timestamps.
Can I ask, is it just your vault in the copy of 1Password that your daughter uses? If it's just your data then what we could do is:
- Use the How do I start over with an empty vault? guide on her Mac to reset 1Password for Mac there.
- Delete the Agile Keychain in Dropbox as we can have 1Password create a new one.
- Pause for a moment to let this deletion sync to Dropbox's servers.
- On your Mac set up Sync with Dropbox. If you've deleted the Agile Keychain in step 2. you should see a Create New button as described in step 5 of that guide.
- On your daughter's Mac it will either locate the new Agile Keychain and simply ask for the Master Password or you can follow the guide, Sync existing Dropbox data.
Now that's all very well and fine assuming your daughter doesn't have a vault of her own. If she does you definitely don't want to start over. Assuming your vault is just a secondary vault on her copy of 1Password for Mac you could delete the secondary vault and then re-add it using the new Agile Keychain you create in step 4. You can delete a secondary vault by first switching to it and then using the menu option 1Password > Delete XXXX Vault.... You can't delete the primary vault in the same way, that requires the starting over guide.
So there's a bit of information in there, hopefully this helps but if I've misunderstood anything about you situation please do let me know where I've made the errors so we can correct the required steps. This should allow you to basically push a fresh copy of your vault onto a copy of 1Password that your daughter uses and at the end both should be syncing to the same Agile Keychain. Let us know how you get along
