Feature Request - a category for Utilities/Services?
You know what would be really cool, would be another category to store your Utility/Service accounts, with a field to keep track of how those utilities/services are billed (ie: it would link directly to the credit card/bank entries). If the Utility/Service account also had login functionality, then I could have a single entry for (example) my electric company which would include the web site login, account info and how it's paid.
Then, when a credit card expires, I could then simply click on that entry in the Credit Card category and it would show me which accounts use it, so I would know which ones I need to login to in order to update my credit card details. I know this is a little bit of a stretch of 1Password's functionality, but it largely would just tie together functionality it already has - and I can't think of another way to store billing info like this that is secure and intuitive.
I really like what you guys are doing with 1Password, and having this sort of functionality to link things across categories would be great. It could also come in handy to be able to link together say a Membership card with a login. Right now they just seem to co-exist with no relationship to eachother, and typing in the website in the entry in both categories seems redundant. Can't an entry in Membership also function as a login, if it has the website/username/password?

Hi @robzr,
The idea of linking items is certainly not a bad one and it's something that our new 1Password for Teams beta can do as it isn't restricted to the limitations of any of our older formats. In 1Password 5 for Mac I currently try to use tags to 'link' items with a particular credit card and when I say try I think I ended up with about 6 entries correctly tagged and then my attention drifted. It's maybe not quite the linking you were thinking of but would it achieve the same goal? You would be able to click on a tag in the Sidebar and it would show you all the items with that tag.
As to what a Membership item can and cannot do. Certain categories are about more storing of certain information rather than allowing additional actions in 1Password. That's a bit of a cryptic statement but what I'm trying to say is that very specific categories can be used in regards to filling. Those categories include Logins, Credit Cards, Identities and Passwords. Other categories are more about storing of sensitive information in a safe location.
So I genuinely don't know how easy or hard it will be to add linking to the existing formats but maybe tags could prove useful here?

Hi Adam, now I'm curious about the 1Password for Teams - hopefully the new format will bleed down to 1Password, as I was writing this first message I was realizing the real functionality I'm asking for is the ability to link across different categories, because these days pretty much anything in a non-Login category is also going to have an associated Login item with it, no?
FWIW I do use the tags but for separating things like work/personal, it might not cleanly scale for tagging the way things are billed, at least for me. Thanks for your thoughts though!

Greetings @robzr,
The feature as it stands in our 1Password for Teams beta allows you to link any two items, the category is irrelevant. Teams is really new so we'll need to work on making sure everything runs smoothly there and I genuinely don't know what the future will bring, it may make it's way into personal vaults - I just don't know.
Yeah, I went down a slightly different route to you. I used to tag for work and personal and then decided multiple vaults was a better divide there. So that freed up tags for other uses. As it's so easy to switch vaults in 1Password for Mac I actually liked having that proper divide so that I had work and personal and that the extension didn't look in both at the same time. Now we have the All Vaults view in the beta which means if I want to I can have the extension look in both or not - my choice
