One of my keychains, which syncs over Dropbox is over 1GB in size.

The file keeps growing in size and I'm not changing anything in this keychain. Another vault which syncs with the same Dropbox doesn't have this problem.

    Greetings @josbigorange,

It sounds as if conflicts are potentially an issue here and that 1Password for whatever reason isn't addressing them and pruning as it goes.

Now as a user of 1Password 5 for Mac one of the aspects I see as a big improvement over 1Password 3 is that the Agile Keychain in your Dropbox account is just a sync container. The vault is stored locally in an encrypted SQLite data base file so we can delete the Agile Keychain and have 1Password create a new one with now risk to your vault. The only annoyance is that you will have to re-enable Dropbox sync on each copy of 1Password that linked to that particular Agile Keychain.

    1. Launch 1Password for Mac and enter 1Password's preferences.
    2. Switch to the Sync tab and select the troublesome vault from the list on the left-hand side.
    3. Set the sync menu option from Dropbox to None.
    4. In the confirmation window, tick the checkbox titled Delete data from Dropbox and click the Disable Sync button. Don't worry, this will only delete the Agile Keychain connected to this vault - it won't touch anything else.
    5. Pause for a moment to let Dropbox sync those changes.
    6. Set the sync menu option from None to Dropbox.
    7. Have 1Password create a brand new Agile Keychain in the same location as the old one.

Each copy of 1Password for Mac and 1Password for iOS will notify you that Dropbox sync has been disabled. Simply re-enabling and pointing it directly at the new Agile Keychain though will have 1Password pick up where it left off.

If you're concerned at all make a backup on each Mac and device before you re-enabe Dropbox Sync.

    • 1Password for Mac. Use the menu option File > Backup.
    • 1Password for iOS. Visit Settings > Advanced in 1Password for iOS and tap the Create Backup option.

That way you have a safety net everywhere if you're concerned at all.

I would hope this tames the Agile Keychain size but if you find it starts expanding again please do let us know.
