Moving items from Trash to a new vault

I finally decided to create a new vault in which to archive my old logins which I have been leaving in Trash. After creating the new vault, I selected the items in Trash, and followed the 1Password User Guide directions to move them to the new vault. Nothing happened. I tried moving a single item. Nothing happened. Is it not possible to move items from trash to a new vault?

  • Hey @johncp,

You'll need to click Restore on each item and before you can move it to another vault. Each vault has its own Trash, and you have to move things out of it in order to move them elsewhere. ;)

Thanks for the quick response. Although that makes sense, it will be a real pain since I have 195 items in trash!!!! Should have done this a long time ago.

  • @johncp Ah, if you have that many items it will definitely be a bit more difficult. Unfortunately, that's the only way to do it. The Trash is usually meant to be there if you need to recover something after a bit of time has passed. If you leave that many items in there, getting them out in bulk is a task. You can always set a keyboard shortcut to make it a bit faster. Open System Preferences and click the Keyboard pane, then select Shortcuts. Click the App Shortcuts section and click +. Select 1Password from the Application dropdown and for the menu title, write Restore from Trash. That's case-sensitive, so you'll want to double-check it or copy and paste it. Then assign a shortcut that works best for you, like ⌘ R. It just can't be a duplicate with something else in the app.

That should get things spinning a bit faster! :) Hope it goes well.

Thanks again. I'll give that a try.
