I have 1password on my iphone and imac. I can't license it on my laptop. I have the license and in the faq it says to just copy and paste the license number form our email but I don't get that option. I only get the option to upload a file.

1P4 and 1P5 use a licence file. 1P3 used a licence key. It sounds, from what you say, as though you have a 1P3 licence key which you're trying to apply to 1P5 (which isn't going to work, as you've discovered).

1P4 was a paid upgrade from 1P3 (and 1P4 a free upgrade from 1P4). Did you ever buy a 1P4 licence? If so, you can have it re-sent to you by using the link on this page.

Edit: if you're still stuck trying to get your 1P4/1P5 licence re-sent please also see the suggestion in this AgileBits post.

    Hi @ebrown,

I'm sorry for any confusion about your license! I tried searching our system for the email address from your forum account, and it looks like you have a license for 1Password 3 for Mac, but not version 4 or 5. If you think you may have purchased an upgrade to version 4/5 from the AgileBits Store under a different email address, then as Stephen mentioned, you can have your license resent to you from this site.

Or is it possible you purchased 1Password for Mac from the Mac App Store at some point? In that case, you would need to reinstall the Mac App Store version of 1Password. Just launch the Mac App Store, make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID you used to make the purchase, and reinstall 1Password from the Purchased section.

You mentioned you have 1Password on your iMac. Which version is installed there? If you have 1Password 4 or 5 installed on the iMac and it's activated with a license, you can find information about that license by opening the main 1Password app and going to the menu for 1Password > License...

If you never upgraded your 1Password 3 license to a 1Password 4/5 license and would like to do so, you can enter your version 3 license code on this site to see your upgrade discount & options.

Hopefully this helps, but let us know if you have more questions about that. Thanks! :)

Hey @Drew_AG and @Stephen_C So let me first apologize for just being pissed off at the time when i posted. I was in a time sensitive situation and needed to grab a password and I was bout to get it and then got a notice that the trial had expired. Put us in a awkward situation. Thanks for getting back to me though. :)

So here's the deal, I understand the upgrade deal and know my license info. I first purchased the app on my iPhone for $49 -I think back when it was still version 3. I've been upgrading just fine on my iPhone. Now lets say i had no version of 1password on my computer...I'd have to pay $49 again to use the app on my computer?

I did look and I recently re-downloaded the 1password app on my computer and didn't realize that it downloaded the newer version and it shows that its still in trial mode. I guess I thought that since I purchased the app in the app store from my phone It'd be something I could re-download on my computers too like all the other apps I use.

    Hi @ebrown,

No apology necessary! I know this sort of thing can be frustrating, and I'm really sorry it's been so confusing. Hopefully we'll have you back to enjoying 1Password very soon!

I first purchased the app on my iPhone for $49 -I think back when it was still version 3.

Assuming we're talking about USD, the iOS version of 1Password would not have cost that much. That sounds like the price of a license for the Mac version of 1Password, and I do see that you paid $49 for a 1Password 3 for Mac license back in 2012. The price of 1Password for iOS has always been considerably less than that.

Now lets say i had no version of 1password on my computer...I'd have to pay $49 again to use the app on my computer?

The Mac and iOS versions of 1Password are sold separately, so purchasing the iOS version doesn't give you a license for the Mac version (and vice versa). I don't know exactly what you paid for 1Password for iOS, but as I confirmed above, you paid $49 for a license for 1Password 3 for Mac. If you decide to upgrade to a 1Password 4/5 license through the AgileBits Store, you'll receive a 50% upgrade discount.

I did look and I recently re-downloaded the 1password app on my computer and didn't realize that it downloaded the newer version and it shows that its still in trial mode.

Sorry for the confusion! 1Password 4 was a paid upgrade from 1Password 3 (and 1Password 5 was a free upgrade for those who already had a 1Password 4 license). If you decide to upgrade, you'll receive a license file that you can use to fully activate 1Password 5 on your Mac.

Or if you don't want to upgrade, we completely understand! You can go back to using 1Password 3 for Mac, which is still a great product, even if it doesn't have all the latest bells and whistles. You can download 1Password 3 for Mac from the "Legacy" section at the bottom of our download site.

I guess I thought that since I purchased the app in the app store from my phone It'd be something I could re-download on my computers too like all the other apps I use.

If you bought 1Password for iOS, you can use that on all of your iOS devices. If you bought a license for 1Password for Mac, you can use that on all of your Macs. You can find more information about that here: What licenses do I need to use 1Password on all my devices?

I really hope that helps to clear up the confusion, but if you have more questions, we're here for you! :)
