Running a Mac Pro with OS 10.11.1, MacBook air with same OS, two iPads, And to iPhone 6s pluses. Having some trouble synchronizing hey single vault on multiple devices. Dropbox tends to overload internal drives with files requiring selective syncing. I have tried several suggestions on the Internet at both your site and the dropbox site. I would like to be able to have the main drop box files on a Drobo attached to the Mac Pro. I would like to keep no files on any devices under than the Drobo. Is that possible? I don't know whether it is safe to place my personal phone number and email on this post. I sure would appreciate a phone call if possible. I have used 1Password for a long time and love the program.

1Password Version: 5.4.1
Extension Version: 4.4.4
OS Version: OS X 10.11.1
Sync Type: Dropbox

  • Hey @wwp347! Thank you for not posting your phone number here — these forums are public, so it's definitely not the best place for it.

Well, first off it's important to note that unless you have a lot of attachments and items, 1Password's data is not that hefty so your Dropbox folder shouldn't be more than a few megabytes. Attachments are limited to 5MB, so you can theoretically have a few hundred and make things larger than necessary. If you're using Dropbox for other things, that's totally understandable. However, moving your Dropbox folder to an external drive is not necessarily a good option for 1Password. If that drive is disconnected, 1Password will give you some sync errors. It's best to keep everything internal if possible.
