Please explain exactly what happened when you updated, and how you updated. If you go to 1P5 > About 1Password what exactly does it say—and, in particular, are you running the Mac App Store version of 1P or the AgileBits store version? Where did you originally buy 1P (the Mac App Store or the AgileBits store)? What version of 1P were you running before you updated?

    Hi @tgar214,

Sorry for the orange editing there but these forums are public, you don't even need an account to view the messages people post. As such you probably didn't intend to reveal as much information as you did.

So I looked up your purchase history with us at it seems you purchased 1Password 3 back in 2010. Since then we have released 1Password 4 and 1Password 5. When 1Password 4 was released the decision was made to make it a paid upgrade over 1Password 3. Out customers had two choice available to them. They could purchase 1Password 4 directly from us and they could use their existing 1Password licence key to obtain 1Password 4 at a discounted price. They could also purchase 1Password 4 from Apple's Mac App Store but you couldn't use your licence key to get a better price there as their online store doesn't have this facility.

By the looks of it it seems you may have purchased 1Password 5 from out AgileBits Store in October and then yesterday purchased 1Password 5 again but from Apple's Mac App Store. It is possible to do this because the two stores don't interact with each other and have no way of determining that you've already purchased 1Password for Mac.

Is it safe to assume that you have been successfully running 1Password 5 for the last month or so and you've been happy with using the AgileBits Store version of 1Password for Mac? If that's correct then the easiest course of action is to request a refund for the Mac App Store version given it was purchased only yesterday. If you would prefer to keep the Mac App Store version for any reason we can instead process a refund for the purchase you made from us last month. This part is entirely up to you but another reason to refund the Mac App Store version would be I suspect you paid more for that version, something in the lines of almost twice as much as I think you purchased during our sale last month at a discounted price.

If you want to ask Apple for a refund then this link should help, How-to: Request an iTunes purchase refund if you have a legitimate reason and of course you have a legitimate reason

So does this sound about right and if so the question becomes how would you like to proceed? We definitely want to get one copy refunded though and you're well within your rights to ask

    Hi @tgar214,

Oh, I forgot to say I merged a couple of records we had for you and resent all of your licences to you. That's why you got the extra email from us.
