How frequently will agile bits charge me for the 1password app I purchased?

The new version 5 costs an additional $50. Will version 6 also cost me more money? V7? etc...

If you are upgrading from version 4 to version 5, that is free. But if you are coming from version 3 to version 5, there is an upgrade charge. It's significantly discounted if your license comes from the AgileBits web store, but if you want iCloud for syncing, you must get the upgrade from the Mac App Store, and Apple does not provide discounts for upgrades.

I don't work for AgileBits, but I doubt you will get a different answer than this: Updates within a major release are always free. That means 5.0-5.1-5.2, etc. AgileBits sometimes will charge for upgrades to new major version. They did that for the upgrade from version 3 to version 4. But the upgrade to version 5 was free to all registered users of version 4. So even major upgrades are sometimes free. All that can be related reliably is this history. You may be asked to pay to upgrade to the next major version, given this history. If you buy your license directly from AgileBits, they have always offered generous upgrade discounts from full price. Apple (so far) does not allow that.

And to be complete, your license never expires and you are never forced to upgrade. You can use the application as long as you like and for as long as OS upgrades don't do something to break legacy versions.

If you want to upgrade your license from version 3 and buy from AgileBits, you can see your discount by entering your license key into the field on the upgrade page, here.
