Sorry to hear about that. I've just tried this and the auto-save doesn't work for me either in Chrome and Firefox. It worked fine in Internet Explorer, though. Manually saving the login worked in every browser.
Which specific page have you tried this on? I used https://www.bankofamerica.com and the login form in the top left corner.

I did get it to work.
I think what I was doing wrong is not filling in the password on the BofA website before "Save new Login"0 -
