Beta app IS in the WP8.1 store [only older builds]
In David Brown's introductory email which I received when signing up, it states "There will be no releases of this app to the Windows 8.1 Stores." However, my Nokia Lumia 1520 running WP8.1 saw the app in the Store and downloaded it.
Furthermore, it installs and appears to work just fine. Is this deliberate, or a glitch?
As a WP8.1 user I wish you would review your policy of "W10 only". W10 has gone down well on the desktop, but the mobile version (W10M) has many limitations, is being developed very slowly, and is still lacking in some features compared with WP8.1. In addition, many WP8.1 users are upset that W10M has abandoned the UI design language of WP8.1 and is now basically Android-with-Live-Tiles, which has made them disinclined to upgrade. Finally, it is not clear that W10M will be available for all the existing models of WP8.1 phones. Therefore it is likely that WP8.1 will be around on a significant number of phones for the medium term future.
I love 1Password and use it on my desktop and hybrid machines. It would be a real disappointment if I couldn't use it on my phone as well.
Bearing in mind that the app does seem to work on WP8.1, as well as W10, would it be such a problem to continue with that compatibility?

@Thack it's deliberate :) We've started development at the end of Windows 8 era and made some progress before Windows 10 came to play. Windows 8.1 version was updated in last August, we've made lots of progress since then, but in Windows 10 world only. We keep packages for Windows 8.1 because we realize that not everyone is adopting Windows 10 as fast as we may want.
I won't argue about design. I find some things improved, some things are not. But I'd recommend to give it a try, it's getting better and they listen to feedback. I believe I felt just like you in the beginning toward Windows 10, but my experience changed that.
As for continuing Windows 8.1 development line, I'd have to say no, that's not going to happen. I know that's not exactly what you want, but the difference in SDK is large enough to keep pushing both branches. Windows 8.1 has some restrictions that Windows 10 removed (like finally we can copy passwords to clipboard, previously we couldn't do so).
I do believe Microsoft made a commitment to support phones with 512MB RAM and slow CPU. As a matter of fact, I've chosen exactly that kind of low-end phone to use for day-to-day testing of 1Password on Windows 10 Mobile. And I must say it works no worse than Windows 8.1 high-end phone.

SergeyTheAgile: Thank you for your reply!
I have used W10M extensively on my phone - since the early days of the Insider Preview programme - but in the end decided to revert to WP8.1 as development was unbelievably s-l-o-w and I really missed the WP8.1 UI design language. Even now, Cortana on W10M is still lacking some key functionality compared with the WP8.1 version. It's amazing how slowly W10M is progressing - it's as if there's half a dozen developers on it, at most.
Your explanation about 1Password development is very helpful, thank you, and I do appreciate how supporting two SDKs in impractical.

Thanks for the feedback, @Thack!
I'm sorry that the "welcome" message seemed misleading—as you can see, we're really not releasing new builds for versions other than Windows 10, but perhaps I should've been more specific about old builds still being available in the 8.1 Store.
Thank you for using 1Password!

@wkleem yep, Microsoft is not telling us when they will consider Windows 10 Mobile ready for everyone. At the same time, I was surprised to see no mention about beta/insider/preview/release candidate status of Windows 10 on my new device. It's just Windows 10 Mobile. I thought I missed launch or something :)
I'm also running it on Lumia 635 with 512MB RAM, it's not superfast phone, but system looks good and personally I don't feel much downgrade compared with Windows 8.
