  • Hi @RichardM,

You should definitely not touch these files. Each item in your 1Password database is saved and encrypted as a single *.1password file, so you have 800+ items that is the same as 800 *.1password files. These are not backups, they make up your 1Password database that you're using right now.

Most people do not update their items that often, so it would make sense that majority of the items are old.

    Hi MikeT
Thank you for a very fast answer!
When I make a backup, are all those files then compressed into the Zip file?
    Kind regards

  • Hi @RichardM,

Yes, 1Password will compress your data folder that contains these *.1password files and others into a zip file when it runs the backup for you. Note that we only do this when there are changes made on that day. If you make no changes on the day, 1Password will skip the backup because it would be exactly the same as the previous backup copy.
