With LastPass already ahead of the game, how much longer before we see an extension from the 1Password team?

  • Hi @Kapazza,

At the moment, there is no ETA. Microsoft has chosen LastPass to be their partner to test the new extensions with but we weren't invited and still have no access to any extension docs, which means we can't build anything until then.

We did request an early access based on a URL they mentioned at Build 2016 conference, so hopefully, we'll be invited soon.

Cool, hoping you guys get early access. Thanks for the response.

  • You're welcome and we really can't wait to get 1Password into Edge, it's a nice browser.

  • Thanks for sending that along @veteze.
We can't wait to get an extension for Microsoft Edge out there.

Hope you guys have already taken a look at the session from the Edge Web Summit. Apparently, most Chrome extensions can be ported with minimal code changes:

Edge supports sideloading extensions, so you should be able to push a beta and get feedback while waiting for the invite. There's an entry already on the Windows Feedback Hub asking for a 1Password extension. If enough users in this forum could upvote it, I presume, that would help the invite as well:

    when-is-the-edge-extension-coming

(You need to be running a recent Windows Insider Fast/Slow build to use the above URL, copy and paste it into Edge. If you can't get it to work, open Feedback Hub manually and search for "1Password extension for Edge")

    Hi @davisjohn,

Yes, Microsoft has announced months ago that most Chrome extensions can be ported to Edge with minimal changes.

We've already tried sideloading our Chrome extension, it doesn't work out of the box for us and when we tried to debug the issue, Edge would become unstable and crash often. However, each update to Insider Builds with more changes to Edge is showing more and more of the complete picture for Edge extensions. The problem is that we really can't do much right now until it is complete.

Right now, we're mainly focused on 1Password 6 first but as we continue to work on implementing the browser extensions support for it, Edge is on our minds as well.
