can't create new logins

in 1Password 3 – 7 for Mac

I am unable to create new logins on my computer. I open a new login and click on the title box and it will not accept any text. It has a weird gray striped shadowy filling that can be deleted but not typed over. No content can be typed in. This is true when I try to populate the other cells in the login information as well. Please help.
