Hi,

Currently using a trial version of 1Password in a team environment (which we are syncing using Dropbox) which is working great. However I have been asked to look into any other alternatives for cloud syncing options available within 1Password. I am a little confused as to what difference between the 1Password account option (listed here: https://support.1password.com/sync-options/ ) offers over using dropbox. Can you please explain this? Am I right in thinking that if we were to go for this option that all of our passwords would be stored in one vault and then as soon as someone where to add a new password per say, this would then be updated on all other devices ( we used windows/mac ). I am keen to continue with the dropbox option as we have it configured currently however I am keen to investigate this alternative. Any clarification would be great.

Many thanks
awhizz

1Password Version: 4.6.0.604 (15)
Extension Version: 4.5.5.90
OS Version: Windows 10
Sync Type: dropbox

Hi @awhizz and thank you for your interest in 1Password for Teams. There’s no limit to the number of vaults you can create, but an item can only belong to one vault a time. Vaults can be shared with some or all of your teammates, and each teammate can have access to multiple vaults. The 1Password data is hosted in our servers and whenever a change is made it will be reflected in any device accessing that same vault. We have a great Getting Started guide that also includes how to set permissions for each user on your team -
    https://support.1password.com/teams-admin-getting-started/

We don't yet have a complete Teams solution for Windows. We offer 1Password Beta for Windows 10 though this version doesn’t include browser extensions. It does have its own browser and you can use Go and Fill to open your website in this browser. If you don’t have Windows 10 then you can access your Team vault through the Chrome or Firefox browser, and this also allows the editing of 1Password items. Our developers are working hard to release a complete solution for Windows. Once it is available, we will be announcing it in our newsletter (https://agilebits.com/newsletter) and on our blog (https://blog.agilebits.com).

I hope this helps. Please let us know if you have any further questions.

    Hi Laura,

Thanks for the reply. Just wondering if you could clear up what you mean by not having a complete Teams solution for windows? Ie what is missing verses the mac version?

    Many thanks

  • Hi @awhizz,

What we mean is that there's no stable version of 1Password that support 1Password for Teams services right now on Windows. The 1Password for Teams is relatively a new service from us but we haven't finished the upgrades to our Windows program yet to enable Teams. 1Password Account is the account you use to sign in to our services where we handle the sync/backup for you and you can focus on the data management for your team.

Right now, what we have available is an early beta of the Windows 10 app in the Windows Store that doesn't support many features yet such as browser extension support, custom fields and so on.

We're working on a brand new version of 1Password for Windows with Families / Teams support built-in that will run on Windows 7 and above. We will share more information on this very soon.

For now, your best option is to keep using Dropbox until we are ready on Windows.
