Custom fields not working

Hi,

I have an old password saved that uses the custom field 'merchantID' to populate the merchant ID here: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/mcfghfm7a1auwye/2016-04-22 at 16.35.png (I did right click, 'inspect' to get the correct field name).

This is how it looks in 1password: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/lm7bkr7fgyrrsl6/2016-04-22 at 16.38.png

Now, I've tried to recreate the same thing with different accounts on the same site and that custom field 'merchantID' is not being populated, even though the settings in 1password are the same. Here's a screenshot of one of the new logins that doesn't work: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/g0pzd7wwcpgwdqs/2016-04-22 at 16.39.png

I've tried duplicating the login and changing the specific values, and also creating new logins from scratch.

Any idea why this might be happening?

Thanks!

    Hi @erikahl ,

Have you tried Saving the Login manually without creating any fancy fields? Saving a Login like this will teach 1Password the fields that it needs to fill. It works for many complicated login screens.

If you do find yourself needing to edit an entry though, you’ll want to look at the web form details, and not the custom fields. Custom fields are there for your own information, if you wanted to add a few more details about the account. 1Password uses the web form details to determine what actually gets filled in. But, in most cases, you will not need to go into the web form details and make changes on your own. Saving the Login using the steps I’ve linked to should give you the result you’re looking for. :)

Using the web form details definitely worked!

    Thanks so much, Megan!
