1Password Helper not running [1Password 6 does not yet support browser extensions]
I have installed the desktop app (Windows 10) and the browser extension (Chrome), both with and without betas. When I click on the browser plugin button, it opens a tab that says "Looking for the 1Password helper". After a few seconds, it comes up with "Either the helper is not running, or something is preventing it from communicating with the 1Password browser extension." and a button to 'Try again' which still fails to work. I have ensured that I am logged into 1Password via the website whilst doing this.

Extension Version: 4.5.6.7
OS Version: Windows 10 Pro

Hi @jacksonharnwell,
The current 1Password 6 for Windows beta does not support browser extensions, it will be added in the near future.
Do you still have local vaults that you're syncing outside of 1Password Families/Teams?

Hi @MikeT ,
Thanks for your response. I only just signed up for 1Password in the past week or so and the site pushed me toward setting up a Families account. The tool is very cumbersome to use without a browser plugin, however, so any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hi @jacksonharnwell,
At the moment, Families is not fully ready to be used by customers that only uses Windows, we don't have a stable Windows version of 1Password that'll support Families. We've tried to mention that Windows support is coming soon but we may need to add more of it on the site.
We're working as fast as we can to improve the betas to get it to the stable quality but it may be a while.
Your options depends on where you use 1Password but if it is Windows only, Families won't be an option for the moment unless you're willing to copy/paste between the app and the websites until we ship an update with browser extension support. Unfortunately, I don't have a timeframe on when the first beta update with browser extensions support is coming but it's one of our top priorities. The problem with waiting is that Families is a subscription model and you would have to pay to keep using it, we don't offer free plans for beta testing at the moment.

Thanks @MikeT .
I'm also using 1Password on my other computer (also Win) and my Android phone. From what I read, it seemed that Families was the best option to ensure syncing between each one. Is there another version of 1Password that could facilitate this in the meantime or should I just wait?

Hi @jacksonharnwell,
From what I read, it seemed that Families was the best option to ensure syncing between each one.
It is the best option for the data storage because it is handled directly by our own servers, rather than depending on a third party service like Dropbox to sync your data and it allows us to be smarter about your data. However, we're not there yet where all 1Password apps have the same features.
Is there another version of 1Password that could facilitate this in the meantime or should I just wait?
I would say wait because it's not yet feasible to export your Families data to import it into a local vault that you can use with 1Password 4.6 for Windows that does support the browser extensions. We're working on that soon and when it happens, you could use both programs to sync data, so that the stable version of 1Password can work with your extensions and you can keep the data in sync with your Families account via the beta version until we're ready to support the extensions natively. At least that is the current plans, we can't promise for sure.

You're welcome and let us know if there's anything else we can do for you. Well, beside speeding up the work on the browser extension support, which we're doing already.
