Roughly every 60 seconds a new web page tab automatically opens in my safari browser asking me to 'Sign in to 1Password - Password Manager and Secure Wallet'. This started about 5 minutes ago and I now have at least seven open. Is this a pfishing virus?

The URL of the page that opens up is: https://idmsa.apple.com/IDMSWebAuth/auth?oauth_token=OATTKNc8...

Hi @billtubbs and @mikeymikemike123,
I moved your post to the Mac category, I hope you don't mind. I’m sorry for the inconveniences that this is causing to you. The main thing to know is that all your data is as secure as always and that it can easily be fixed. You can read the detailed explanation of what's going on, why it's happening and how to fix it on this post. Thank you for your patience in dealing with this issue.
I also merged both your threads @mikeymikemike123 to keep the conversation all in one place!
Please let us know if there's anything else that we can help you with :chuffed:

Yep, same thing here. Highly annoying. I don't like being asked for a password from some popup site that I never chose to go to. That's just messed up.

@eldenf that's understandable, and I'm sorry for the inconvenience. But the expiration of these tokens, as well as the mechanism through which they are opened, is largely outside of our control. 1Password 6.3 has a nice popup explaining what's happening, and the multiple browser tabs opening was a bug in 6.2.1 that we've squashed. We'll be better prepared for these tokens expiring in the future :)

Yep, after posting that last message, I upgraded to 6.3. That seemed to do the trick. At least it gave an explanation of the reason for the prompt.

It's happening to me and I feel like I've been hacked. Why does it say "1Password" if it's out of your control? You put users in a very uncomfortable situation. First it says it's going to apple, then it re-directs to another domain, I panicked when I saw that and immediately reset my Apple ID password. I can't believe you let this get that way. This is a product where dependability, security and clarity are absolutely essential.

It is Apple's iCloud authenticating for use with the 1Password app. Since it is Apple doing the authenticating, that part of it — when you are on Apple's server — is out of our control. This is the same as any third-party authentication, like when you sign up for a service that wants to use your Facebook or Twitter account. That service will redirect you to
facebook.com
ortwitter.com
to authenticate.Once you re-authorize on
apple.com
with 1Password 6.3, you will get a new token from Apple, and 1Password will then be able to sync with iCloud again.Caution and skepticism are healthy habits. Thanks for asking about this. If we can be of further assistance, please let us know. We are always here to help.

I merged your post from the iOS category to this existing thread for the issue in the Mac category. I'm really sorry for the trouble.
Please update to 1Password 6.3 then, once you authorize Apple to sync your 1Password data with iCloud, it will function just as it always has.
If you have any trouble after that, please let me know.
Cheers!
