1Password shows current Dropbox vault as broken-trashed [Fixed, read inside for instruction]

The 1Password v6 application, on my system, is pretty strange with the trash. I am reading a Dropbox folder, so that may be affecting things:

  1. It says I have 208 trash items. I find this exceedingly unlikely (I tend to keep it pretty clean),
  2. Most of the entries (the screen is split into entries and details) are completely blank, and if selected, show (under details) category-099, a last modified date, and a creation date. Nothing else,
  3. If I scroll to the very bottom, I see one "real" entry.

I can do screen shots if you'd like. Let me know if you need further details.

  • Hi @jeffc,

We had a bug with the local vault that sounds like yours, the app saved the data with the wrong key and that rendered it as broken. It looks as if it was deleted. We have fixed this bug in the latest update. Could you do this and see if it works better:

    1. Close 1Password 6 beta, open Windows File Explorer and enter the following: %LOCALAPPDATA%\1Password\ in the address bar
    2. You should see a few sqlite files, move them to your documents location for the moment. Doing this would move the current database away from the program and the next launch of 1Password will reset to a new database file
    3. Restart 1Password, it should detect the latest update and install it for you automatically. Once it is up and running, you should log in again with Dropbox to see if it works better now.

Let me know if it works better now.

Not a lot better for me, unfortunately.

I did step #1 and step #2 (in step #2, I also moved away the Diagnostics folder).
On step #3, a new version of 1Password was detected and installed (2016.6.402d).

I logged in again with Dropbox, and the results were identical (after a while to load everything). I still have 208 trash items, the blank items (in the list box) still show as category-099.

    Suggestions? Thanks!

  • @jeffc category 099 is a tombstone, these are items deleted long time ago. We will make sure such items are not loaded into the app, thanks for your help!
