Crashing on 1 dropbox login

Hi, I'm trialing Families (at least I think I am - I posted on the Windows section of the forum earlier today regarding my confusion around all the versions I seem to have downloaded, so apologies if this is NOT the families version - it's marked up as 2016.6.403u). I've brought in my logins from my android vault on dropbox, they appear in a vault labelled 10password, but 1 login causes an instant crash when selected. I've tried the right-click delete but I assume this is not supported at the moment as nothing happened. I've copied it to my other vaults (by copying all) where it causes a crash with equal speed. Anyway I can remove the offending item from this vault or restore it with the version my android app sees and is happy with?
Andy

Sorry, I appear to have posted this in the wrong forum (I'm certain I was in 'Families' when I posted but...) Could admin move my post as required.

  • Hi @Casey99,

I've moved your thread to our Windows Beta forum as this is an issue with the 1Password beta for Windows 10 app, it shouldn't be crashing on any items.

Can you see this Login item in your 1Password Account on 1Password.com? Please do not delete or edit it yet, we need to analyze why it is crashing the app in the first place.

To rule out if this is an issue with the Windows Store version of 1Password, can you try installing our desktop version of 1Password 6 beta for Windows and see if it crashes on the same item. You can find it here: https://discussions.agilebits.com/discussion/64591/help-us-welcome-1password-6-to-our-windows-family#latest

Hi Mike, I've downloaded 1password 6 beta for windows from your link. The same login item crashes it just as efficiently (and repeatedly) as it did in the earlier version. 1password for windows 4 opens it happily.
''Can you see this Login item in your 1Password Account on 1Password.com?'' - sorry, I'm really confused by the versioning - I'm not sure which this one refers to? Let me know and I'll check.

Just noticed - using my android app with the 'problem' login - I can open it fine but if I try to edit it, 2 alternatives happen. If I've amended username/password AND the note it tells me it's saved but on checking only the note has saved, the username/password fields don't save. If I try and amend just the username/password fields (or any combination of just those 2) I get a green tick and 'No Change' appearing after pressing save. I've tried a few other logins and they seem to be acting correctly.

@Casey99: Ouch! I'm sorry for the trouble there! The bad news is that you're still suffering from this crash. But the good news is that with the 1Password 6 (for Windows desktop) beta, we're receiving the crash logs so the developers should be able to figure out a way to address this issue for you.

However, based on your description, I wonder if 1Password for Android may be involved more directly that it might appear. We discovered a bug recently with items created using 1Password for Android while syncing with an AgileKeychain because they have a creation value that is rejected by the server. Does that sound like your situation (AgileKeychain vault sync'd from Android)?

On the plus side, this is fixed in the most recent 1Password for Android version, so just make sure you're up to date there to avoid further issues like this. However, we're still working on a way to fix these items themselves. Are you using 1Password on any other devices? I wonder if there might be a workaround we could employ.

My Android app is running 6.3.2, which I think is current, and syncs with dropbox ( /10Password.agilekeychain) if that's what you were referring to (sorry, I get really confused with your versions/terminology!). The particular login which is causing the problem has lived on my phone for a long time and I don't think I've modded it for years, so I wouldn't have noticed this problem. However, it's this login that I was 'messing' with on 1password beta (version 2016.6.403u) yesterday, it's a bank with a 2 stage process, when it all seemed to go wrong (It certainly opened that login to start with without any problem - I assumed I'd managed to corrupt my database somehow?) This morning the android app still won't save to that login, 1password beta still crashes BUT 1password 6 beta, which did crash yesterday has updated itself and is now happy with that login?!
As an aside, in 1password 6 beta, with 'All Vaults' selected, the number of logins shown is several hundred more than I have, and hundreds more than the combined number across the individual vaults. Sorry if this is a 'known'.

@Casey99: Thanks so much for following up on this.

Yep! The UWP app from the Windows Store lags slightly behind the "desktop" 1Password 6 beta. We're prioritizing the latter since it can be used by folks on Windows 7 and 8.1 in addition to 10. Even with some bad data, it should't crash. Glad to hear that's a bit of an improvement!

No need to apologize! It's a known issue that some "garbage" items (literally, from the Trash) show up in the item list. It's definitely something we'll be addressing, but for now we're erring on the side of showing too much instead of too little. But I'm glad you bring it up. The more people who do, the more we may prioritize improvements there. ;)

Anyway, I'd like you to generate a diagnostic report for 1Password for Android and send it to support+forums@agilebits.com so we can look at the logs to determine exactly what is happening regarding the item issue:

    Sending Diagnostics Reports (Android)

Just be sure to include a link to this forum thread and your username in the email so we can 'connect the dots'. Once we see the report we should be able to better assist you. Thanks in advance! :)
