I was just down at my best friends place in Atlanta and he mentioned how much he loves 1Password. I told him I had bought a subscription to 1Password Family but didn't use it and I couldn't remember why. I now remember, NO browser extensions at all. I use Firefox 47.0 and desktop IE in Windows 10 but without browser integration I will continue to use Roboform. Binaranomaly mentioned he was beginning to regret the move to 1Password Family. I definitely regret the move as the first few months have been a complete waste of money as I've received absolutely 0 benefit.

  • Hi @dgage,

Thanks for letting us know. We've started to support limited filling support for all browsers except for IE/Edge a few weeks ago in the latest 1Password 6 Beta desktop here: https://discussions.agilebits.com/discussion/64591/help-us-welcome-1password-6-to-our-windows-family#latest

The next update to the desktop beta will have a huge improvement in filling support and once that's good to go, we'll expand over time to add more features such as auto-save, submit, search, and many more. The next month or two will have a lot of updates as extensions are our only priority at the moment.

Thanks MikeT. I was able to get the beta installed and the Firefox 1Password plugin working, which is an improvement. I look forward to the next version of the desktop beta where I can start saving logins. I look forward to the improvements but it looks like it will be quite a while before I can even use it much less consider switching to it. You really may want to consider giving early signees a free year as 1Password Family likely shouldn't have been offered as a paying service with so little functionality available. That's my opinion at least.

@dgage: Thanks for being honest. While we appreciate the feedback, I'm not sure we'll be offering a free year of service. That would be a long time to expect anyone to work for free.

Folks who signed up for 1Password Families (and Teams) early got multiple months for free, including a 30 day free trial, and of course at that point if you'd used it and felt it wasn't a good fit for you yet, you could simply wait and subscribe when you feel the time is right.

But of course not everything works out the way we expect it to, so if you or anyone else feels as if you didn't have adequate time to "test drive" 1Password during the free period, shoot us an email at support@1password.com and we'll see what we can do to help. :)

Unfortunately I tried 1Password, which as my best friend told me is a mature and very capable application. It wasn't the Roboform Everywhere I had used for years but the potential to share folders with family members was something I had been wanting. Thinking 1Password for Families was an extension of the 1Password application I decided to sign up for it. I can tell you this, if I had actually trialed the 1Password for Families as opposed to 1Password, I would have never signed up for 1Password for Families. I stand by 1Password for Families has simply not provided me any value at this time. As far as I'm concerned, you might as well have opened up a Kickstarter because the concept is about the same because I'm paying for something that may be useful at some future date. Definitely not what I thought I was paying for.

@dgage: I'm really sorry for the confusion there. :(

Indeed, 1Password for Windows version 4 (and others on other platforms) is a mature, full featured, stable application; but 1Password for Windows version 6 is very much a beta. And if you'd prefer to use 1Password 4 instead until 1Password 6 is officially released, we can totally make that happen too. Just email us at support@1password.com and we'll be happy to help.
