Why can't I subscribe to update notifications from HocheyApp?

Hi there,
I just noticed that for some Apps I can simply hit the gear icon and say that I would like to be notified when there is a new update to the app. Why can't I do this with the 1Password Beta? Could you please enable this because it would be really amazing thanks :)

Thx
Timo

@ntimo: I must admit I'm not familiar with that feature. Is this a Windows 10 desktop notification you're talking about? It's certainly something we can look into. :)

@brenty here this is what I mean

Its an option in HockeyApp on the App page where after you login you can subscribe to update notifications.

  • @ntimo I've went over all settings available and couldn't find anything that i can switch to turn it on. I believe it's managed by user, like on the screenshot you've posted. I'll try and find some docs about that feature, perhaps I'm just doing something wrong :)

@SergeyTheAgile yes it is managed by the user but when I go to the HockeyApp page from 1Password for Windows there is no gear icon :(

  • I think I've found something that should work right after I've pushed 6.0.173... I wonder if it will pick up or it will start working with 6.0.174.

@SergeyTheAgile I am sorry but I don't understand what you mean? Could you maybe explain :+1:

  • Sorry for the confusion, I thought I've found the way to notify testers and then found in docs that this feature might not be supported for desktop Windows.

HockeyApp supports apps on iOS, Android, Mac OS X, and Windows & Windows Phone as well as custom apps. Crash reports & user metrics are working on all those platforms. Beta distribution is fully functional on iOS, Android, Windows Phone, and Mac OS X; for custom apps, you can only notify testers via email, but there is no in-app update functionality.

@SergeyTheAgile so there is no way this is going to work? :(

  • I wish I could give better answer Timo, it looks like to notify people I need to have them listed as testers, which means I need to "recruit" them and follow some HockeyApp's procedure to notify. Drop me a line support+windowsbeta@agilebits.com, we can try something out before confusing everyone on this planet ;)
