I have just installed 1Password 6 and it crashes at startup ( 1 Password for windows desktop has stopped working" Any solution to this issue ?

Extension Version: Not Provided
OS Version: Windows 10

    Hey @mmoud we'll need some diagnostic information before we can figure out what exactly is failing. Can you try signing again one more time and after 1Password 6 crashes open file explorerer and Paste the following path into the address bar: %LOCALAPPDATA%\1Password\Diagnostics\

    It started up after I disabled FIPS encryption on my system.

    Hi @mmoud,

    This is a known issue with the HockeyApp library in our app for update checks, it uses an older MD5 hash library for hash verification that doesn't pass FIPS compliance. We're working on addressing this but we don't have a timeframe on this.

    Now 1password is having issue login to its online account. I do see its slowly syncing to 1password cloud account with every attempt but i keep on getting "Unable to sign in, please check details provided and your network connections"

    If my details are wrong then why would I see 400 entries synced to online account out of my 1000+

    Hi @mmoud,

    It's a generic message for any network issues, we don't have detailed errors yet.

    In this case, it could be two reasons: a proxy that could be causing the app to time out or our servers are throttling you due to many failed attempts.

    Could you email us another log like before but after reproducing the issue, so we can figure it out:

    1. Open Windows File Explorer and enter the following in the address bar to open our diagnostics folder: %LOCALAPPDATA%\1Password\Diagnostics
    2. Reproduce the issue in 1Password 6, you'll then see a current.txt file show up or updated
    3. Please attach that file to your next reply to us in the same email you've sent to us at support+windowsbeta@agilebits.com.

    Also is it possible to use v4 for now and then move to v6 later when things gets stable. I am trying to get rid of Roboform and dont want to pay twice for v4 and v6 . I am using v4 trial right now and got 6 month promo for v6.

    Hi @mmoud,

    It is but you have to make sure to create a local vault file first in 1Password 4 for Windows, so you can add it in 1Password 6 and migrate the data over from the local vault file to your 1Password account.

    Right now, 1Password 6 Beta doesn't have a way for you to copy data back from your 1Password account to your local vault file as it doesn't support local vault files fully yet and it doesn't have Export feature implemented yet either.

    Ok I will wait for v6 to get stable then. What should I do about licensing ? I don't want to buy both v4 and v6 as later on I will be using v6

    I'm not sure if there's a glitch in our forum as it shows that I've replied but when I visited here, it doesn't show it, so I'm going to try again.

    Your crashes are due to what I mentioned before in the thread, your system has been placed in a strict FIPS required mode. This will cause 1Password 6 to crash until Microsoft's HockeyApp team fixes the issue with their app updater library or we replace it with something else. We sent you an email to try to disable this in a way for 1Password but it may not work.
