Filling Passwords / 1Password Extension for Chrome not showing items
Hi. I have a saved password. I use Chrome and have the extension installed. I want to auto-fill the password. That led me to read that when I click on the 1Password extension button, I should be able to see and select from a list of my saved items, as in the attached snip. However, when I click the extension button (and yes I have my desktop app running), I get no list of items. If I am on web page for which I've saved a login, it will display that item. Otherwise, none. Except (!) that, a few minutes ago while I was gathering info for this post, I got asked for the first time ever to enter my password right on the little extension window, and, after that, it listed all my items in the extension window, allowing me to search for my credit card. I have not been able to replicate that, though :-( . Can you tell me how to invoke that sign-in again, so I can see all my items in the extension window? Also, with the Chrome extension will I see category groupings like you show on the snip I've attached? That one time I actually saw the list in the extension window, it was just a flat alphabetized list with no categories available that I could detect.
Thanks for your help!
1Password Version: 6.0.186d
Extension Version: 4.5.8.90
OS Version: Windows 10 v. 1511
Sync Type: none (I think)

Also, am I correct that to have the "Password Helper" running means to have the 1Password Windows app running?

Hi @Jim_R,
Right now, 1Password mini in 1Password 6 Beta doesn't have the default list of categories where you can see all existing items, like on the Mac. This will be added in a future update but you can force this right now by pressing
Control + Alt + \
twice. When the whole database is loaded, you can then search for the Login item to open in a new tab.Note that saving new Login, credit card/identity filling, and other extension features are not yet implemented in the current beta build. A lot of updates are coming soon to improve 1Password mini.
. If I am on web page for which I've saved a login, it will display that item.
That's the basic of what 1Password mini can do for the moment, it will only show you the existing Login items it can find on the site and you can select it to fill.
Also, am I correct that to have the "Password Helper" running means to have the 1Password Windows app running?
In 1Password 6, 1Password Helper has been renamed to 1Password mini but yes, you need the main 1Password app opened first before you open the browser, so you don't get that "Helper's not found" tab opened up in your browser.
We will be adding an option soon to keep 1Password mini running all the time, that way you won't need to open the main app anymore.

Thanks MikeT for your prompt and clear response. I'll try the Ctrl+Alt+\ when I get home -- I don't have the extension installed here on my work computer.
A follow-up question: My main 1Password Windows app doesn't stay on the task bar -- I have to keep going back to click on the shortcut on my desktop. Any ideas?
Thanks,

Hi @Jim_R,

If this is the 1Password 6 Beta, you might have configured it to minimize to the notification area. Did you check if it is there?
If yes, you can disable this setting via 1Password 6's Settings > Options > General and it'll stay on the taskbar then.

Thanks, Mike! I'll check that tonight.
