Today's beta upgrade

I hope you don't have many users who were using the beta app only and don't have a recovery person in place after today's upgrade. Asking for full login again? I'm okay but there is no warning this is going to happen and the cheerful message after update isn't enough.

    Hey @ofrm_dcb,

Moving to 6.0.197 doesn't delete any of your old data and you can still access it by downgrading to a previous build. In case you run into any issues, uninstall the new version and go here to download a previous build and you should be able to run 1Password 6 with your old data.

@ofrm_dcb - I've found the Emergency Kit pdf works well in this situation.

If you login to your Families Account online, then to the "My Profile" section, there's an option to "Generate Emergency Kit" which will download a PDF document. This contains all your account details (minus password) and a QR code.

You can then use your keyboard's print screen key on this document when you're going through the 1Password 6 Beta setup process. Then during setup, the Desktop program will let you scan this QR code from the clipboard - in the process automatically filling in your Family Account details, leaving you to enter your password.

However, this is the way I do it - hopefully it would work for you too :chuffed:

(Also, big thanks to 1Password for the new huge, Windows update today :+1: )

    Hey @ofrm_dcb,
We also have a great new feature within 6.0.197, you can drag your QR code from the Get the apps page, onto any screen of 1Password 6 for Windows. Enter your Master Password and then, Tadah! You're done. :)

Missing the point. If you had a user without this access they are now fully cut out. Suggesting that if you do it again you have a very big and colourful message saying you'll need these details.

  • Thank you for this feedback, @ofrm_dcb, we appreciate it.

We will discuss updating the dialog within the team.

Please understand, though, that during the sign-up process for a 1Password account, we make it very clear that saving the Emergency Kit is important and an essential part of keeping your data safe and available to you.

    Cheers,

    Alex
