Windows 6 Beta Site Security Questions

I humbly apologize if this has been answered before, but I've tried searching the forums and support and everything seems to revolve around the Mac version or non-beta version.

I have several sites that need security questions answered. Currently with the 6 Beta, I can't find any way to build in those questions without having it simply be in a notes field and then have to go digging for it and manually copy/paste. I can add custom fields into the logins with my iPhone and those fields then appear in the desktop application. However, it doesn't fill anything in. Some websites that have the password field and security question on the same page will at first input the password, leave the security question field blank, and then after a few seconds erase the password from the page.

Any help would be appreciated.

@robstarwind: It isn't just you! I'm really sorry for the inconvenience here, but the new 1Password 6 Windows desktop app does not yet support creating custom fields, so Notes is the best option right now if you want to add information there.

However, be aware that regardless 1Password is not capable of filling any custom fields. It simply doesn't have any way of knowing their purpose or how to match them to a web form. That's something we'd like to improve in the future, but it's a difficult problem to account for all the possibilities.

But while 1Password isn't designed to fill security questions, if you're having trouble with login filling in general, be sure to let us know the URL so we can investigate! :)

I appreciate your detailed response. It's helpful to know what hurdles are involved with such requested features.

The site I'm having issues with requires security certificates to even get to the password box so I guess I can't actually show you that field. For now, I will make do and hopefully if we get the capture method built-in that it may help with this issue.

Thank you for your time. It's most appreciated.

  • Hi @robstarwind,

For the moment, you can do this on the 1Password.com web app, it does support adding custom fields. Once you save it, the desktop app will pick up the change instantly.

We'll get these features implemented for you as soon as possible.

On behalf of brenty, you're welcome.
