Minimize to notification area (system tray) on close for 1Password 6

There is already an option for minimize to notification area, but I'd love to see a similar option for the close button. It could still be configurable, doesn't have to necessarily be the default, and the other option could also remain, but I think it is a better experience. Many programs have this option; some programs like Skype also cleverly alert you that it is still running in the background when you close the main window with this option.

Ideally, the Windows experience would be very similar to the Mac experience (admittedly, it seems to be moving in that direction, which is great). It already starts minimized to the notification area when it starts with Windows, but I don't like having to remember to hit the minimize button to get it to stay alive in the background. Minimize for me is putting something out of the way for a short to medium length of time, close is get off of my screen until I need you again.

  • Hi @swivelman,

We're taking steps in that direction, we're just not doing all of it at once because it would take longer for you to get it and it gives us the chance to test each step of the process, one at a time. The end goal for us is to add the Keep 1Password Mini running all the time option like in the macOS version of 1Password. When this is enabled, the 'x' button would react like the 'minimize' button, closes the app window but keeps 1Password mini running in the notification area.
