Chrome Extension cant find 1Password Helper - Windows 10/1Password 6
Chrome extension fails to find 1Password helper, leaving me without autofill.
I have tried the betas chrome extension also to no avail.
Not sure what could be causing the issue, it'd be great if i could get some help getting anything working.
Thanks!

Hi @airzy,
There are a few possibilities to consider so it might take a couple of replies to pin down the cause but we should get there eventually
So a couple of aspects specific to 1Password 6 for Windows that I'd like to check are to see if the 1Password helper is registered, if you have the older 1Password 4 installed and if 1Password 6 is running when you experience the issue.
- Is the 1Password helper registered? You can check this by opening 1Password 6 and entering it's options. If you select the Browser tab there is a checkbox titled Register 1Password Helper, is it ticked?
- Do you have 1Password 4 installed? In one copy of Windows that I have it has both 1Password 6 and 1Password 4 installed and they constantly fight with each other. 1Password 4 always wins so I have to quit the 1Password 4 process to allow 1Password 6 to connect to the extension. Could this be a factor at all in your situation and if so does it improve if you uninstall 1Password 4?
- 1Password 6 works differently to 1Password 4 and at least for now it requires the main 1Password 6 window to be open and your vault to be unlocked for the extension to work. Are you seeing the issue even with your vault open?
If it isn't one of those then we'll start looking at the possibility that a firewall or anti-virus application is blocking the extension. We use a WebSocket for the extension to communicate with 1Password and a WebSocket is no different to how any application communicates with a server over the internet (except nothing between extension and 1Password ever leaves your computer). As we use the same protocols though software designed to filter, redirect or simply block communication can affect the extension. With this in mind do you have any of the following installed on your computer?
• Anti-virus software.
• Third party firewall software.
• An ad-blocker that you install such as Freedom.
• Parental control software.
• Any active proxy service.
• Any active VPN service.Hopefully we learn something from this small barrage of questions and can get it working for you

Hi @littlebobbytables thanks for getting back to me :chuffed:
In regards to the troubleshooting you recommended.
1. Yes, I can confirm that the checkbox is checked.
2. I did have it previously installed, but have already uninstalled, I haven't found any trace of 1Password4 hanging around.
3. Yes I still see the issue. With both 1Password and Chrome open alongside each other, chrome attempts to launch 1Password which it seems to do successfully, but then nothing happens and the extension tells me that the Helper needs to be running and gives me the option to try again. Thanks for the help so far!

@airzy: I've moved this discussion to the Windows beta category of the forum since it pertains specifically to the new app in development. That way the development team can help too and improve it in a future release as well!
So far so good, but it does sound like the browser isn't able to connect to the main 1Password app. As lil bobby mentioned, we need to look at what might be interfering. Do you have "security" software or other extensions that might be interfering? Try disabling them temporarily to see if that helps. Thanks in advance! :)
