Can't get 1Password extension to work with Google Chrome
I have:
a Windows 10 computer
installed 1Password 6.0.197d
Google Chrome
installed 1Password extension - Password Manager & Secure Wallet 4.5.9.90
When I click on the 1Password icon in Chrome, I get a message the "Helper" is not running.
And then an "External Protocol Request"
If I click on "Launch Application, 1Password opens, I enter my password and all my logins are dispalyed.
When I click on the 1Password icon in Chrome, I should enter my password and then 1Password should populate the login fields of the website.
This is not happening!
What is wrong?
So frustrating

Hi @TimTDP,
And then an "External Protocol Request"
Did you authorize it to always open 1Password? Chrome needs to know what program to open when you click on 1Password icon, which is 1Password 6.
Restart Chrome and click on 1Password icon again, what do you see?
When I click on the 1Password icon in Chrome, I should enter my password and then 1Password should populate the login fields of the website.
At the moment, 1Password 6 Beta doesn't fill automatically when you unlock 1Password mini. After unlocking, try again and it should fill for you. 1Password mini will be updated in the near future to show you the matched Logins after unlocking.

Hi @TimTDP,
Restart Chrome and click on 1Password icon again, what do you see?
They same as in my original post
The same meaning you saw the
External Protocol Request
dialog from Chrome again, did you check always open for 1Password?Try this and see if it helps:
- Open the main 1Password app, unlock, and click on Settings on top right to select Options
- Go to the Browser section on the left and uncheck Register 1Password Helper. Check it again.
- Go to the General section on the left and check Start 1Password automatically when I sign in to Windows
After that, restart Chrome, is 1Password working better?
If not, can you tell me what anti-malware solution you have installed on your computer?

Thanks
Still get the message the "Helper" is not running.
I am running Microsoft's standard Defender programmeDon't understand why 1Password works perfectly on my Windows 10 laptop and not on my Windows 10 tablet????
If I ma running beta software, how do I install a non-beta stable version of 1Password?

Hi @TimTDP,
If I ma running beta software, how do I install a non-beta stable version of 1Password?
There is no stable version of 1Password 6 for Windows right now, we're working toward our first stable update soon.
Don't understand why 1Password works perfectly on my Windows 10 laptop and not on my Windows 10 tablet????
Something's blocking 1Password extensions from being able to connect to 1Password on your laptop that doesn't exist on your tablet, this is often caused by an anti-malware solution but it could be a network setting as well.
Can you email us your logs after reproducing the issue? When you reproduce the issue, open the main 1Password app and enter
/log/save
in the search field to save a diagnostics log file. Please attach that file to an email to be sent to us at support+windowsbeta@agilebits.com. In the email, also include your forum username and the link to this thread if you can do that.Let us know here when you sent it, so we can look for it.

When I try and save the log file, I get a Windows message "1Password for Windows desktop has stopped working"
Where should I expect to find the log file?

Hey @TimTDP, the app shouldn't be crashing when you enter that command, so we'd like to see the logs for this issue as well. But we'll go step by step.
For the issue Mike is helping you with.
We've made some changes in the latest update that can help with the issues you've been seeing. Make sure you've updated to the latest. If your browser tries to run app and is rejected because of code signature - you'll see an alert. If you do not see an alert, send us your logs by following these steps:- In the search field, enter
/log
. - In this new Window, click the
save
button - Save your logs and attach them as Mike directed.
For the new crash you've seen
1. Try entering the/log/save
command again.
2. If 1Password crashes, open your Event Viewer app (search for it from start menu)
3. In Event Viewer, under the "Windows logs" tab, select "Application"
4. Find the last error from ".NET Runtime" source.
That should tell us all we need to know.0 - In the search field, enter

Hi Guys
I have updated to the latest version, and my problems have been mostly resolved
I am so happy!!!!!!!
Two things:
1. Why did the version I was running not tell me that an update was available?
2. I hope that " fill automatically" comes real soon. Thanks for all the help guys. Much appreciated.
I really like the software0 -
@TimTDP: Sorry for the trouble there! I can't say for certain why you weren't offered the update, but sometimes it's just a matter of time. We'll continue to improve the experience there. I'm glad to hear that the latest version is working well for you!
Login filling is already implemented, but automatically filling without user interaction isn't something that 1Password will do, as that can pose a security risk. We are looking forward to adding autosave though. Thanks so much for your encouragement! :)

Thanks
Login filling is already implemented This doesn't work for me0 -
Dear @TimTDP,
The latest version of 1Password 6 Beta for Windows should fill your login info and it is strange if it doesn't. Please note that 1Password app should be running unlocked in the background for the browser extension to do its job. So what you have to do is unlock the app in the background and press
Ctrl + \
to fill your login information. For example, I am in a Chrome browser with 1Password extension installed and I want to log in to Amazon. I go to 1Password, unlock it with my Master Password, switch back to Amazon page and pressCtrl + \
on the keyboard. 1Password fills my credentials and I can log in without any issues. :)Could you please try if it works for you? If it doesn't, please describe your actions step by step and tell us what happens next. It will be really helpful. :+1:
Thanks in advance!

When I am on a webpage requiring log in details,
I click the 1Password icon on the Chrome web browser
This opens 1Password, and I enter my master password.
1Password then simply displays all my login's in alphabetical order.
I need to scroll down the list until I find the correct log in. When I click on it, the login fields are populated. On my laptop, however, when I open 1Password only the log in details of the web page I am on are shown. Not all my log in's

@TimTDP, are you attempting to log into the same page on your tablet and laptop? Are both devices updated to the same version?
We show all your logins when the extension cannot find any matches and you should be getting the exact same behavior on all your devices.
Side note: you can use the search field to find an item faster rather than scrolling. Just start entering the items name and we'll filter the vaults list for you and help you find what you're looking for :).

@TimTDP: Thanks for following up and clarifying what's happening! Please do the following:
- Open 1Password
- Unlock it
- Open your web browser
- Go to a website you have a login saved for
- Press
Ctrl \
to fill
Let me know if that helps. I look forward to hearing back from you! :)

Thanks
That works
But it still doesn't answer my question!

@TimTDP: I'm sorry. I missed that entirely since it wasn't a question! I didn't respond to that because you are correct: 1Password offers logins matching the current URL in the browser. If, however, you open 1Password mini outside of the browser (clicking the notification icon or pressing
Ctrl Alt \
), you can search all of your logins and select one. I hope this helps!0
