Trashed items not syncing to Windows via Dropbox [Intentional at the moment, will fix]

Using a Dropbox sync'd vault with version 6.0.224d of 1Password Windows beta I'm seeing a peculiar behaviour with items that should have been trashed (or even entirely removed from the vault - i.e. emptied trash) still showing in the Windows version of 1Password6.

I'm also using the vault on Mac OS X and Android (the latest versions). In fact, as editing is not available for local vaults in Windows versions yet, this is where I am making edits to the vault and on these systems the items have been correctly moved to the Trash - or where the item has been emptied from the trash it is completely removed from the vault.

Is there any information I can provide such as logs or is this an issue you can recreate yourselves?

Keep up the excellent work, I'm enjoying the journey 1Password Windows is on and can see that you are making your way towards parity with the Mac version of the software.

1Password Version: 6.0.224d
Extension Version: 4.6.0.4 beta
OS Version: Windows 10
Sync Type: Dropbox

    Hi @mortstar,

This is a known issue, we will fix this in a future update and you shouldn't have to do anything. We just need to tell the app what to do if it sees a tombstone (deleted and emptied shell) and remove it from the local database. Right now, it is instructed to skip importing the tombstones but that means the existing items inside the Windows app's database isn't handled yet. Once we improve the sync algorithm for tombstones, it'll remove these items from the database when it sees these tombstones again in the next sync session.

Could I give a bump for this item?

I know local databases are being worked on right now - and I'm really hoping we'll get editing soon - but this cosmetic issue would clear up over half of my vault as there are hundreds of generated passwords that are either no longer in use or have been turned in to logins and they clutter up the interface.

    Thanks!

  • Hi @mortstar,

    :+1: Bumped the list.

What you can do right now is remove that local vault and re-add the vault again, that'll clean up your local database. If you have Dropbox client already installed on the PC, my suggestion is to switch from Dropbox to Folder sync, so this wouldn't require redownloading the whole vault again.

However, the other option is to switch back to 1Password 4, this is going to take a bit longer than we anticipate.

Excellent, Folder Sync is a nice little workaround.

Keep up the good work, clear improvement being made and looking forward to feature parity with the Mac version, it's getting closer release-by-release.

Beautiful music to our ears, that makes us really happy, thank you. We're close to shipping the next beta update to 1Password 6.3, which is already huge like the first beta. My favorite one is that the new installer now can autostart 1Password after the update is done, adjustable font size, much faster 1Password mini with improved sorting and more.
