All browsers after PC restarts look for 1Password helper
Every time i restart my PC and then open Firefox or Chrome, it will look for the 1Password helper when I click on the extension. It then fails the first time. Then I click Try Again and it then opens the main 1Password application. Then I click Try Again once more and it finally succeeds.
1Password Version: 6.0.227d
Extension Version: Chrome - 4.5.9.90 and Firefox 4.5.9

@two7offsuit: I'm sorry for the trouble! It sounds like they aren't able to connect initially while things are being launched on startup. Instead of trying right away and encountering the connection failure, if you wait for Windows and 1Password to load completely first, does it work then? Also please note that 1Password does need to be running for the browser extension to have anything to connect to. Let me know what you find!

Hi @brenty yes that's seem to have worked. I didn't realise 1Password needed to be running first (wasn't the case with v4). I've enabled the Launch on startup setting and all is good now.
Many thanks.

I'm having the same problem with extensions finding the 1Password helper, but 1Password is already enabled to start when I sign in to Windows. I've tried removing the Chrome extension, changing to the Beta extension, but there was no noticeable difference.
How to I ensure that the helper is running?

@ETBrown: I'm sorry for the confusion! The new 1Password 6 Windows desktop beta works a bit differently. There is no Helper; rather, you'll need to have the main 1Password app open and unlocked to use the browser extension. However, if you're still getting the error, then something is preventing 1Password from communicating with the browser. Do you have "security" software that may be interfering? Please let me know what you find!

@ETBrown: Ah, thanks for letting me know! Just follow the steps in this guide:
Configuring Sophos
I hope this helps. Please let me know how it turns out! :)

@brenty: That did help. After adding the local host IP to the list of website exceptions I also had to authorize the extension to "Allow access to file URLs". The 1Password Beta extension then started to work.
However, it doesn't look like it retains the option for filling in form and credit card information. Is that portion of the extension still in development?
I am using the 1Password Beta extension v. 4.6.0.5 in Google Chrome.
