A couple of feedback items

Here are the biggest current issues I've personally noticed with the 1Password 6 beta:

1) When invoking 1Password mini in Chrome, logins are not properly filtered to the current site (I believe filling might also not work at this stage) until 1Password mini is closed and opened again. Subsequent opens work correctly.

2) 1Password mini seems to have some scaling/spacing issues for me. Not sure if this is because I'm on a 1440p display. This is noticeable when mini is locked, and also in the vaults dropdown. I have attached screenshots to show what I'm experiencing.

1Password Version: 6.0.231
Extension Version: 4.5.9.90
OS Version: Windows 10 (latest/Anniversary)
Sync Type: 1Password account

  • Hi @bardyspoon,

Thanks for writing in with the feedback.

    1. Was 1Password mini locked at this time? There is a known issue where if you have to unlock 1Password mini, you do have to dismiss it and try again to make it work. This will be improved in a future update
    2. Not a scaling issue, this is a design issue on our part, we will fix this in a future update.
    3. This is also a design issue and we'll fix this in a future update.

    Hi @MikeT,

    Thanks for the followup.

    1) Yup, this only happens when 1Password starts out locked. Glad to hear this is a known issue you're working on. This is currently the only glaring usability issue for me.

2+3) Thanks for confirmation on fixes coming for these issues. Drives my OCD crazy! ;)

    4) One more suggestion I'd like to add - it would be nice to have an "Always keep 1Password mini running" option like the macOS app. Once in a while I accidentally hit the close button instead of minimizing. It would be great to have that behavior consistent across platforms. I know from reading other threads that you're currently working on lots of improvements to bring 1Password mini up to the level of the macOS version.

I also want to point out I'm really happy with the increased rate of updates. This beta has gotten much more usable lately. There are even a couple features I wish the gold standard macOS app had, like copying TOTP values to clipboard after filling. Keep it up!

  • Hi @bardyspoon,

It should already be doing that in the latest updates, we no longer closes 1Password when you click on 'x' button but minimize it to the notification area. You should also check the following settings:

Thanks for the feedback on our development, we plan to maintain this type of pace for a long time to come.

As for the macOS app + TOTP, they just shipped a beta update with this feature. We did have a fun time telling them, as usual, they weren't the first.

    Thanks for the info, @MikeT.

I have had these options enabled since they were included in an update - however, I believe there was a point in time where minimizing to tray worked as described, but clicking the 'x' button still closed the app. I had trained myself only to minimize, so I didn't know this behavior might have changed! I can confirm that the current version of the app minimizes to tray when clicking 'x', which is exactly what I was looking for.

  • You're welcome and I'm glad it is minimizing now. This is a recent change, we were previously closing the process if you click on 'x'.
