  • Hi @Jeev,

I've moved your thread to our Windows Beta forum.

1Password 6 Beta for Windows doesn't support creating new local vaults yet, it also only has read-only support for local vaults. We do plan to add both write and the ability to create new local vaults in the future but for now, you should stick with 1Password 4 for Windows if you need this support.

In addition, if you want to keep using 1Password 6 on your PCs, we recommend that you switch to the desktop version here: https://discussions.agilebits.com/discussion/64591/help-us-welcome-1password-6-for-windows-to-our-family/p1?new=1

    hi MikeT -

thanks for the quick reply. i just downloaded 1Password 6 on my PC using the link you provided. But it looks like creating a new vault is not possible on the desktop version either. Am I correct on that? So only 1Password 4 for Windows would allow me to do this? are there any issues with me using 1Password 4 on my PC via Dropbox and then using IOS version with 1Password Pro?

Is there any rough ETA on when new vault creation would be supported on 1password 6 Beta or 1Password 6 desktop? (looks like license for version 4 is $65 for just a temporary solution until version 6 is ready....)

    thanks again,
    Rajeev

  • Hi @Jeev,

I apologize for any confusion but yes, there is no version of 1Password 6 Beta that supports creating new vaults nor have full support for local vault files as I've mentioned. I only meant for you to use the newer 1Password 6 Beta version since the previous version you were using from the Windows Store hasn't been updated in a while (build 161 vs. build 245).

There's no ETA on when the next version of 1Password is coming with full support, it's not going to be anytime soon. The initial version of 1Password 6 for Windows will be limited to the 1Password.com customers, local vault support would be in a future update later this year or early next year.

Unfortunately, we don't have an easy answer for the license cost. 1Password 6 Beta for all intents doesn't exist for sale, it's only a look at the next generation of 1Password coming but it's not something you can buy right now. What you're buying now is the current version of 1Password 4 version. You may or may not have to pay an upgrade fee if you want to use the next version when it comes out.
