Chrome extension blank... then not blank

When clicking on the Chrome extension (usually after machine startup) the extension appears blank (even though I am on a site's login page who's entry exists in 1Password). To fix I have to open the 1Password app first, then when clicking the Chrome extension is it populated with all the 1Password login entries.

Also, I noted that the extension is not consistently correctly listing only the available logins for a site. It either lists all the logins I have in 1Password, no logins, or (what I expect) the correct site login only.

1Password Version: 6.0.245
Extension Version: 4.6.2.1
OS Version: Windows 10 64bit
Sync Type: 1Password account

    Hi @alanper,

    Thanks for reporting this.

Was 1Password locked when you clicked on the 1Password icon? If yes, then at the moment, it is normal for it to be blank after unlocking. This will be improved in a future update to find the items for the site you're on prior to unlocking.

You don't have to start the main app, you can click on the 1Password icon again and it should work.

Also, I noted that the extension is not consistently correctly listing only the available logins for a site. It either lists all the logins I have in 1Password, no logins, or (what I expect) the correct site login only.

We do need to know the pattern when this happens, we haven't see any unexpected issue beside the lock situation. Can you confirm 1Password was unlocked all of the time when you saw these issues?

I'm seeing both of these issues as well. In my case, the blank list typically occurs if 1P wasn't unlocked before using the Chrome extension.

I haven't found a pattern to when I see no logins, all logins, or just the relevant logins. I'll keep an eye on it to see if there's any pattern.

    Hi @ninja,

That's normal, it is not going to show anything if it wasn't unlocked first. It will be addressed in a future update.

    Thanks!

I am able to repeat the behaviour of the extension not displaying the logins.
    1. After machine startup and Windows sign-in. 1Password main application starts minimised on start bar. Do not unlock 1Password main app, just close main app window.
    2. Launch Chrome. Open a site that 1Password knows about. Click extension icon and unlock. No login details displayed (as expected from MikeT message above).
    3. Click extension icon again expecting login details to display (from MikeT message above), but no login details are displayed. Can click extension multiple times, no login details displayed.
    4. Open main app (already unlocked because of Chrome sign in). Close main app.
    5. Click Chrome extension and login details now display.

I can repeat this behaviour on my Windows 8 machine at will.

  • @alanper there are 2 things to fix here - load items into mini after initial unlock (this is fixed and will be available with the next update soon) and remember what site you were on when unlock was requested (I'll look into fixing this). Thank you for bringing this up!
