A couple of bugs/annoyances that I wanted to bring up
Hi all! First off, I want to say that the beta has improved immeasurably since I began using it, and the effort and time you all have put in is extremely evident, and is very much appreciated.
That being said, there are a couple odd behaviors that, as they are so obvious, I am tempted to think that they are a problem for just me, because if they weren't they surely would have been fixed already.
The first is that when auto-filling in a login when the application is locked, it doesn't fill right away.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Lock the 1Password app and close it to the tray.
2. Navigate to a website that needs to be logged in to, and for which there is only one matching login in the database.
3. Press Ctrl+\ to auto-fill the form.
4. Enter 1Password Master Password.
Expected behavior: The form is filled.
Actual behavior: 1Password Mini opens, listing all of my logins.
The workaround that I've been using is to close the Mini window that appears showing all my logins, and then press Ctrl+\ again, which fills the form correctly. I'm unsure if this is a Windows beta problem, or a Chrome extension beta problem, or a problem with the two interacting, or what.
The other problem is closely related to the first: forms do not auto-submit.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Navigate to a website that needs to be logged in to.
2. Press Ctrl+\ to auto-fill the form (and perform the workaround from above, in my case).
3. Choose an applicable login, if needed.
Expected behavior: The form is filled and submitted.
Actual behavior: The form is filled, but not submitted, requiring manual clicking of the submit button.
I have the "Automatically sign in after filling usernames and passwords" option enabled.
Again, I'm unsure if this is related to the beta, the extension beta, or both.
Finally, I have a question: What does the "Register 1Password Helper" checkbox on the Browser settings screen actually do? I currently have it unchecked (which I think is the default state) but I don't really know what it does.
Thank you in advance for any insights you can provide!

Hi @tmercswims,
Thanks for writing in and for providing your feedback, it makes us happy to see we're making good progress for you.
That being said, there are a couple odd behaviors that, as they are so obvious, I am tempted to think that they are a problem for just me, because if they weren't they surely would have been fixed already.
That's not surprising, there are a lot of obvious problems that we haven't addressed yet simply because it requires us to implement something else first. 1Password 6 Beta is a new codebase for us and we have to implement a lot of things that doesn't quite fit the "puzzle" yet but will after we iterate to make them all fit. It will take some time before 1Password 6 starts to make more sense.
The first is that when auto-filling in a login when the application is locked, it doesn't fill right away.
This is normal right now, 1Password mini doesn't have all of the logic in place that tells it what to do after unlocking itself. It's not that smart to know to fill because it's been unlocked on top of a site's login page.
It is only in the last update that we've started adding the entire database after the unlock process is done, which we need to do first before we can filter to find the Login items that matches the site. Prior to this update, it was just blank and you had to dismiss/reopen 1Password mini to see your data.
This will be addressed fairly soon.
The other problem is closely related to the first: forms do not auto-submit.
Are you using Chrome?
If yes, there's an extra code that we haven't implemented yet in the app to deal with Chrome's handling of the enter key.
In Firefox, it does auto-submit as expected, we just need to do something else for Chrome.
Finally, I have a question: What does the "Register 1Password Helper" checkbox on the Browser settings screen actually do? I currently have it unchecked (which I think is the default state) but I don't really know what it does.
It adds an entry to your registry to launch 1Password when you click on the 1Password icon in your web browser and the 1Password mini (renamed from 1Password Helper) wasn't running at the time. It forces the system to open it for you as the last resort.
It should be checked by default but an anti-malware solution can prevent us from modifying your registry.
Usually, this is not needed if you configure 1Password to start when Windows is signed in but we've seen various cases where Windows doesn't start things correctly and this registry modification helps as the last resort to force 1Password to start up.

Thank you for the detailed reply!
I'm glad to know that the behavior I'm seeing is not just for me, I think my biggest worry was that something was broken only on my machine, which would have been more of a problem, hah.
As far as auto-submitting, I am indeed using Chrome, which explains that.
Thank you for clarifying what the Register setting does, that makes more sense.
I look forward to updates that address these issues (and just updates in general, updates are fun!), but they will in no way prevent me from enjoying this great software and service. Keep up the great work!

Hi @tmercswims,
You're welcome!
I look forward to updates that address these issues (and just updates in general, updates are fun!), but they will in no way prevent me from enjoying this great software and service. Keep up the great work!
You're going to love 1Password 6's release schedule then, we're aiming for weekly/biweekly releases for a while as the app is still young with a lot of features to implement.
Thanks for your feedback, I'm glad you're enjoying it and if you have any questions or something you want us to add sooner, please let us know.

Another "vote" here for auto-submit on Win 10 Chrome. I find myself staring longingly at my login page, waiting eagerly for the site to open, and it takes a while to remember that I still have to click!

Thanks for the vote, I feel the same way and I keep nagging at our engineers about this every chance I get.
