Tonight the 1password application said that there was a new version available. I went ahead and allowed the upgrade but now the application crashes. Below are two events being logged in the Windows 7 event log.

Please advise.

Thanks,
John

@JohnLHook: Thanks for reaching out! I hope you don't mind, but I've moved you to the Windows beta category of the forums since you're using that version. That way this will be sure to get the attention it needs.

Thanks so much for sending those details! It appears that the app is unable to load the data from disk. We'll continue to look into this, but please try restarting Windows and let me know if that helps. Thanks in advance!

I did a reboot but it did not help. So I thought that I would try uninstalling and then reinstalling. When I went to the control panel, I was surprised to see both versions of the 1Password application. I went ahead and uninstalled both versions of the application and then reinstalled the 2.52 release. This must have corrected the problem as the program is working once again.

    Thanks for your help
    John

  • Hi @JohnLHook,

Thanks for writing back to let us know that, that's very strange that it didn't update 197d to 252d.

I suspect that you've installed the first instance of 1Password for everyone and we've switched to local user only in later updates. When installing for local user, it doesn't have the ability to remove the everyone build.

We'll keep an eye on this and check to see if there are other 197d users that need to remove the current version of 1Password before installing the latest update.

On my update to 1Password 6 for Windows Desktop 252d the Windows "Allow MSI file to modify ..." pop-up-alert did not pop to the foreground but stayed hidden behind the huge default-size 1Password window that fills most of the screen. However, I did go looking for it (it = the Windows "Allow MSI file to modify ..." pop-up-alert), and once I clicked it, everything installed properly. This was a different computer hardware configuration than some of my other notes; this computer configuration is still Windows 10 Pro with the Anniversary update, but with a single-UHD-monitor, Dell P4317Q, which is kind of rare, also an NVidia 980 graphics card, but this time without an enabled NVidia Surround. Not complaining really; just passing along a minor bug (I guess) in the MSI.

@nhDOBsfc: Yeah, that's really odd. Those Windows prompts annoy me because they always interrupt what I'm doing by popping up on top and stealing focus. I'm surprised that it was hidden in your case! We'll keep any eye out for that. Thanks for letting us know not only about the issue you encountered, but that you were able to install it. Cheers! :)
