"The installer was interrupted" even with .NET 4.6.2

I am trying to upgrade 1p from 4.6 to 6. The installer for 1password 6 fails with "The installer was interrupted before 1Password 6 could be installed. You need to restart the installer to try again." Similar messages on the forum seem to be associated with not having .NET 4.6.2. However, this is not the case on my computer. I'm running the Win10 Anniversary Update and the release (394802 according to the registry entry) is 4.6.2 (I believe it is installed automatically with the Anniversary Update). As such, the .NET 4.6.2 updater says that ".NET Framework 4.6.2 or a later update is already installed on this computer." Is there anything else that would prevent 1p 6 from installing in this manner?

  • Hi @rgann,

Do you have pending Windows updates that needs to be installed? The installer checks for other installer running in the background, so that it doesn't overwrite anything or get blocked. Pending Windows updates can cause this for sure.

Try to install all available Windows updates, reboot and then try installing 1Password.

There were no pending updates. However, I did fix the problem. If anybody else runs into this problem in the future, I was able to fix it by running the NetFxRepairTool (which you can get from Microsoft). After restarting the installation was able to be completed.

    Thanks for your suggestion.

  • That's great, thanks for the helpful details!
