Good morning,

I just noticed somewhat by accident because my internet was briefly offline, that the Chrome extension apparently does not work when being offline - I tried using 1Password on local LAN machines and devices but whenever I clicked the 1PW Chrome Extension Button it tried to go a site at agilebits.com which obviously did not work but that was it - the extension did not work and open the Quick-Fill window etc.

Now after being re-connected, it does work again - but why would the Extension need to go to a site on the internet to work.. locally?

1Password Version: 6.0.252d
Extension Version: 4.6.2.1
OS Version: Win10 64bit
Sync Type: Agilebits

    Hi @Jörg B.,

It doesn't need Internet access but it does need a localhost connection to the main 1Password app. The extension doesn't have a UI or data, it communicates securely via the localhost port to the main process to bring up the 1Password mini's UI and 1Password mini handles the data. Once you select something, 1Password mini communicates it back to the extension to fill.

However, being offline doesn't change anything because localhost is local only. The only thing that makes sense is that network state changes can sometime change how your network routes data, both locally and remotely. For an example, some users had a proxy setup where if the internet goes off, the localhost traffic is blocked too because it cannot reach the proxy server that's often on a separate network server. Although the proxy setup should be excluding the localhost traffic by default, in many cases, such exclusion is written in the proxy server, not configured locally. In other words, you need access to the proxy server to tell you not to route localhost traffic. :|

I did test this and it works fine offline:
