Locked out of 1PW 6
I done f*cked up... It's my own damn fault for not searching the forum before acting... I installed 1PW 6 beta tonight because this Windows desktop was the last machine on which I had to transition 1PW to my Families account. I (foolishly) installed the beta next to version 4, and after I succesfully logged into the Families account with 6beta (mening I could see all my vaults and passwords) I tried to use it with the chrome extension - which didn't work, even after rebooting. I then decided to delete version 4 from my machine. I choose ... poorly, I think. Version 4 wouldn't delete, or not completely? The worst part is that I couldn't open 1PW6 anymore - I get the opening screen, but 1PW won't accept my master password anymore. I then tried removing and reinstalling the 6beta again, hoping to start anew but I no longer get the login screen for the Families account, it goes straight to master password entry...
What to do? As far as I'm aware, I need 1PW6 for Windows to be able to log into Families? How can I get back to the loginscreen?
1Password Version: 6 beta
Extension Version: 4.6.190
OS Version: Win 10
Sync Type: Families account

Hi @iMacFeegle,
Both 1Password 4 and 6 do not interact with each other when it comes to your data. If you've signed into your 1Password.com Families account in 1Password 6, that's the password you need to enter to unlock your data. Try unlocking with your 1Password.com account password, you should get back in.
Uninstalling or removing 1Password 4 or 6 does not remove its database files for this reason, you can reinstall the app to unlock the previously used vault.
Are you able to unlock your 1Password.com account on 1Password.com web app in Chrome or Firefox for the moment?

Huh... That simple... I never thought to try the account password, probably because on my Mac the master password is the same one I've always used from the very beginning - it never changed after switching to Families.
I saw the option under Security to change the master password - could I use that to set the mp just for the 1PW 6 Windows install, without affecting the password for the Families account? That would avoid confusion...
I also got the Chrome (Beta) extension to play nice again. Thanks, @MikeT

Hi @iMacFeegle,
Yes, you can change your master password like that in 1Password 6, it will not change your account's credentials remotely at the moment.
I'm glad you got the extension working too.
