With 1Password4 for Windows and 6 on the Mac, you can create sections (i.e. titled Security Questions) and also add the questions and answers (add'l password fields). Using Families and all of the vaults have been moved from the original vaults to vaults under families). This is missing from the Beta. You are limited to the One user name and password field and the notes field.

Any idea when this is coming. Much needed feature.

While it's not in the Windows Beta version yet to add these fields, you can use the web interface to 1Password for Teams/Families/Individual to create the sections and fields (or apps on mobile or macOS), and the fields will display, be usable, and editable in the Windows version. I know AgileBits has getting creation of these additional fields on their to-do list, just hasn't gotten done yet. I know the additional fields are also available to copy from the right-click menu in Mini so they are usable in some places once they exist!

@imt: Indeed. I don't have a time frame for you, but we're looking forward to more robust item editing too. dzsp is right that the web interface will allow you to add more advanced details in the mean time. Thanks for letting us know that this feature it important to you too!

This feature would be very helpful. Currently I end up using the notes section to input this information. Would be great to have reformatted fields available for use. Would also be great if we could use the "generate password" feature to populate these fields. I don't like entering actual answers as I feel this data is too easy to hack using social engineering. Thanks for your consideration.

    Hi @oneillmm,

Thanks for writing in, this is coming very soon. You can create additional custom password fields to store concealed data, perfect for security question/answer fields. These custom password fields come with the built-in password generator, so you can randomize your answers.

For now, the 1Password.com web app can do this and 1Password 6 for Windows will pick it up right away.

dszp, Since I initially brought up this topic I wanted to followup with some issues in the way the web interface works when adding security questions to a new section. This probably belongs in another thread, unless someone else brought this up. But, it is still applicable in a way, since the web interface was provided as a work around.

So I had a website where I needed to create security questions on my Win7 machine. I logged into the web app using Chrome. I created a new section called "Security Questions". For the label, I type the security question prompt. Then for the field is where I would do a password field and generate a passcode. But, you are not presented with the Icon (3 dots) to choose the "field Type", until you enter some text and press tab. Then have to go back and change the field to "password" and generate the password. The icon to change the field type should be present on the first blank line and subsequently for every additional line added, without having to enter text and tab past the field. As a side not I just figured out pressing tab to get another field. I couldn't figure it out without saving and then going back in to edit, where I was then presented with a new field (i.e. you have 3 security questions for a section). The apps all have a plus sign as a way to add an additional field. That too should be added, if possible to the web app.

  • Hi @Imt,

I'm not sure if you're aware but this has been implemented in the latest 1Password 6.2.328d beta 1, you can now create custom section and fields. It's not completely done yet, the next update will have better design and placeholders for the first custom field below the unlabeled section.

I'll pass on your feedback to our design team to see if we can consider using the plus button instead of automatically appending a new field below it, which would require you to focus it before you can get the menus to configure the field.
