@RichardStartz: It isn't possible to change from one template to another after the fact as they are different in fundamental ways, but you can create a new item of the appropriate type and copy your data over from the other. I hope this helps! :)

Any ideas if this is on a roadmap or exists as a feature request for a future version? The ability to change categories would be very useful, especially for people who have a ton of information on a record. Copy & pasting to do what should be a simple task isn't the best UX. Admittedly, I'm sure it isn't as simple "under the hood"... but computers exist to do "these things" for us as users. So I believe it should be a feature request if it isn't already. :-) Thank you in advance.

Hi @DustinDauncey,
It is on our list as a feature request but it is not something that's going to be done quickly. We're making changes to make this easier by allowing 1Password to be more flexible like with the custom fields and sections we've added over time but it is still a bit too strict and reliant on the templates. We're actually experimenting with custom templates for the 1Password Teams, hoping it will work well.
The original reason we don't do this is because Logins, Passwords, Credit Card, and Identities must remain as is in order for our 1Password browser extensions to use them for filling onto the websites. We need to know which field is which and letting you switch these specific categories would render them unusable for filling.
