Hello, all. I'm an avid user of 1Password on Mac, iOS and Android, and am now trying to use 1Password 6.1.296D Beta on Windows 10 using Dropbox to sync. 1Password 4 is working fine along with all of the other flavors of 1Password on other platforms, but adding a Dropbox account to 1Password 6 Beta and identifying the database yields an empty vault.

Is there a trick to getting this to work that differs from 1Password on all of the other platforms?

1Password Version: 6.1.296D
Extension Version: Not Provided
OS Version: Windows 10
Sync Type: Dropbox

OK, it just populated after a few minutes. There was no visual feedback during sync, so it just looked like it was doing nothing. Apologies for the waste of time! (but visual feedback saying it's doing something would be great for final release version)

@echeng: No need to apologize! I'm sorry for the confusion there. It's something we'll be addressing as we add full support for local vaults. Currently they are read-only and sync only manually because it isn't ready yet, but we're working on adding that in a future update.

CanI confirm then? That if you have had Version 4 which uses Dropbox to sync across devices, then you should not upgrade to Version 6 yet? I don't know how to install Version 4 back on to my Mac - which now as Version 6 on it and an empty vault. I cannot see the option 'Sync' on the options menu that is displayed on the video showing you how to upload your password data. Am pretty fed up. I've spent about two days trying to get this to work. What a mess up.

I've sent an email to AgileBits but don't get a reply :( I'm probably doing something stupid but it isn't for lack of trying.

  • Hi @NicolaVL,

    Thanks for writing in.

That is correct. 1Password 6 for Windows is not an upgrade yet to 1Password 4 for Windows and you should stick with 1Password 4 for local vault files via Dropbox.

I cannot see the option 'Sync' on the options menu that is displayed on the video showing you how to upload your password data.

I am not sure what you're trying to do but we will look at your email and reply as soon as possible.

Thanks MikeT. I have created a diagnostics report and sent it. (It did say it was a 1Password5 (not 4 and not 6 - just in case that is relevant).

Summary: Have previously been successfully running 1Password on Windows PC, iphone, ipad and iMac. Using Dropbox keychain data. Updated Mac IOS after which One Password said it was 'corrupt and needed to be reinstalled'. Went on to your website and downloaded V6. Installed to iMac. Created an account for 1 password despite knowing I am not going to have to pay monthly to use a program I have previously paid for. Never mind. Just want it to work! Select option to use Dropbox, but when I sign into V6 on the Mac, my vault is entirely empty. I am unable to access any preference which will allow me to review my preference for using Dropbox. Help video says I should see 'Sync' in the option in Preferences. This doesn't appear on my screen. Read forum. Think that it says V6 doesn't work with Dropbox. Uninstalled V6 and downloaded what I thought was V4 for Mac, but when I run it - I just get a whole lot of information.

  • Hi @NicolaVL,

This is the Windows forum, 1Password 6 for Windows isn't the same as 1Password 6 for Mac.

1Password 6 for Mac has full support for both 1Password.com service and local vaults. You don't need to sign up for 1Password.com at all to reuse your local vault from Dropbox.

We'll help you with this via the email, let's move all communication there, so we don't split our communication and get confused.
