new Win10 PC, installed 1Password, can see Vault, but not edit

I suspect this is my fault, but I can't see how to fix. Long time 1Password user on Iphone/Ipad/Win7pc. New Win10PC (unfortunately). Downloaded 1Password, and linked to vault on my Dropbox. Installed extension for Firefox, and after a hitch or two this is now working, thanks. Just opened 1Password, the basic software, to generate a new password for a site - nothing happens. I can see logins, but Edit doesn't do anything. Ideas?

Version on Win 10 is 6.1.296d

Version on Win 7 is 4.6.1.616 - which makes me think I have downloaded wrong thing. What should I do? Thanks

  • Hi @JRS-WB,

    Thanks for writing in.

You can find 1Password 4.6.616 from here: http://agilebits.com/downloads

1Password 6 does not support editing local vaults just yet but it will in a future update. It's designed for the 1Password.com service initially, which does let you edit your data in your 1Password.com account but for local vaults, it is read-only.

Many thanks, Mike. I'll do that

  • You're welcome.

Be sure to uninstall 1Password 6 completely before you install 1Password 4.

Yes, sequence: remove browser extension, uninstall vers 6, delete desktop icon left by MSoft, reboot PC, install version 6, discover need to know license key, visit old PC, labouriously key license key into text file, transfer to new PC, cut-n-paste key in (worked first time!), install browser extension: Bob's Your Uncle as we say over here. Thanks for your help
