Chrome extension issues

  1. The Chrome browser extension only fills in username and password. It doesn't actually submit the data for login. You must click the "login" button or hit the enter key.
  2. There is no manual save option in the browser. If autosave is turned off for the browser, there is literally no way to save a new login from within your browser.

_1Password Version: 6.1.308d
_Extension Version: 4.6.2.90
_OS Version: Windows 7
_Sync Type: 1Password account

@joedelve: Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry for the inconvenience! Both of these are known issues. #1 is specific to Chrome; we're working to fix an Autosubmit bug there. And for #2 we'll be adding a manual save capability in a future update of the new 1Password 6 Windows desktop app.

One more thing I've noticed with the Chrome extension is that it does not automatically open a new tab for a login. I could be wrong about this, but I believe the old version did this.

  • @joedelve That used to be a per-user setting in 1Password 4 and we're thinking about bringing this to 1Password 6 as well.

I hope this helps! Let us know if you have any other questions.

    Cheers,

    Alex

I understand. Thanks Alex. I just have to express, though, that I'm really disappointed that I've decided to buy into the subscription model and pay a monthly fee, but have essentially lost a good deal of functionality that I had with the old standalone apps and local syncing. I've really, really loved 1Password (on my Mac, iPhone, and Windows PC) to this point and truly expected to have all the functionality I had plus more benefits of the online accounts. In reality, I'm sorry to say that I'm really disappointed with all the bugs and missing functionality in the new desktop apps, extensions and web version. Sorry to be negative. I guess I just had higher expectations from a company whose products I've come to trust and rely on.

@joedelve: No need to apologize. Thank you for taking the time to share this constructive feedback! We understand completely. As you can imagine, we're pretty big fans of 1Password ourselves.

While 1Password for Windows version 4 has a lot of great features, it is also an old codebase that we're not able to bring forward into the future of 1Password on Windows in general, and with the 1Password.com subscription service. We're working hard toward the goal of making the new app as good as 1Password for Mac and as solid as we as long time 1Password for Windows users expect.

But I'm really sorry that we're not there yet. While this is a great opportunity for us to make the 1Password experience better on Windows and consistent across platforms, it's not the experience you deserve right now. While it may not feel particularly helpful to you under the circumstances, we can't add everything at once, so it's helpful to us to know the specific features (like New Tab option) that you're missing most so we can prioritize what we work on. Eventually it will have everything we need and want, but to get there we'll be adding the most requested improvements bit by bit until we've made our way through the wish list. Thanks for your patience and support.

Thanks for taking the time to explain. The following things stand out most to me as features I previously used, which are no longer available. I may notice additional items as I continue to use the new apps and extension.

    Chrome extension:
    1. New Tab option
    2. Manual login creation (turn off auto)

    Desktop/Web apps:
    1. Ability to attach documents to specific records, ie. attach drivers license scanned image file with drivers license record.

  • Hi @joedelve,

    Thanks for writing back.

    New Tab option

We will add additional options to let you open in new/current tabs and windows to 1Password mini.

Manual login creation (turn off auto)

Manual Save and Password Updates are coming soon.

Ability to attach documents to specific records, ie. attach drivers license scanned image file with drivers license record.

I'm not sure if you're aware of Related Items but this is coming as well, it is already available in the macOS app that we're trying to bring over to the rest of 1Password apps. However, we want to simplify this before we bring it to all 1Password apps.

This is what it looks like now on the web app (and 1Password 6 for Windows) when you add Related Items using the macOS version:

Regarding the lack of manual login creation at this time, is there anything I can do for now to avoid the auto creation box popping up every time I login to a site regardless of whether I want to use a saved 1Password login or not?

@joedelve: Yes! We definitely want to make it accessible in 1Password mini in the future, but you can go to 1Password Settings > Options > Browser > Autosave and add a URL to exclude — dropbox.com, for example. Cheers! :)
