So, I move from a Lumia 930 to a Lumia 950 xl. First app I always install is 1Password....but it cannot be found in the Windows App Store. The app is still on my 930, so I think I've not been allucinating the last 2 months....to be sure I check also in the app store on my Surface, and it can't be found there neither. Now may be on the Surface I installed from another source, but I don't think so. But on the Lumia, only way is via the app store....is this normal? What am I doing wrong?

  • Hey howdy hey @CountryMan. I do the same thing, the first app installed for me is always 1Password to make setting else up a lot easier. So, you're not doing anything wrong whatsoever, it's not there. Whilst we take care of a few things the app is not currently available through the store. It will be returning soon enough, but it is not there at the moment. The desktop app is available from our downloads page https://www.1password.com/downloads but mobile isn't, temporarily.

    We've been working away as you probably know on 1Password 6 for Windows and the UWP app which is what was in the store had to take a short vacation. Please hold tight, we will be bringing it back soon and we're sorry that its not there right now.

    So this has todo with those new api's MS is implementing into the UWP SDK that were co-developed with 1password? I assume with the purpose of allowing an Edge plugin for example?
    If so we will have patience. But I really get stressed by the lack of the 1password app in the mobile store.

    Hi @Kaoh,

    All current customers that have downloaded the UWP version of 1Password before will still have access to it in the My Library section in the Windows Store. It has been removed for sales to new customers only.

    As for Edge, no comments on that yet but it wasn't directly related. There was an unexpected release of an early desktop version of 1Password in the Windows Store, which wasn't done by us but we couldn't undo it to restore access to previous versions and so, we've pulled it from the Windows Store instead. Re-submitting the pervious build wasn't possible either because the folks that was updated to the desktop version had their database schema upgraded, so previous builds wouldn't read this database.

    We will submit new versions in the near future with properly tested upgraded databases.

    I was looking to sign up for 1password family, but can't really proceed without the Windows 10 Mobile app since I need it on our phones and that's what we use. Any idea how soon it's coming back?

  • @AndyE I can't tell when or how soon is soon, but I'm Windows Phone user too and I'm working to get universal app back to the Store right now. It will take some time, there are many improvements to consider, tests to do and other steps to make, but it will come back to Store. Hope that helps ;)

    I had 1Password 6 Beta for Windows installed on an 8.1 machine today, but I had to reinstall Windows. All download links and references to the Windows 6 beta appear to have been removed (not just from the Windows store). Any chance of me getting a download link so I can reinstall the beta to work with my 1Password account? I'd have to have to go back to version 4...

    Edit - on Windows 8.1, I don't see 1Password 6 in my library on the Windows Store app or list of installed apps as I never installed it using the Windows Store.

    @Keifer,

    Back then, Agilebits had 1Password for Windows Modern which worked with Microsoft's Windows Phone 8.1 as a Alpha version. None of this exist today and only the UWP version can be downloaded. I have a Lumia 920 which can't go further than Win Phone 8.1 but I already have 1Password Alpha installed.

    I can't be certain if 1Password Alpha for Win Phone 8.1 will vanish as some previously compatible apps have gone missing after I restored the phone to factory settings.

  • Hi guys,

    @Keifer,

    All download links and references to the Windows 6 beta appear to have been removed (not just from the Windows store).

    You can find 1Password 6 for Windows here: https://1Password.com/downloads/ or via the Get the Apps page on your 1Password.com site when you click on the account name on top right to select the Get the Apps page.

    1Password 6 will run on Windows 7, 8.1 and 10 but if you're running Windows 8.1, please make sure you install the latest NET 4.6.2 first.

    1Password 6 is no longer a beta product, we've shipped the first stable update back in October. You would only find links to the stable 1Password 6 versions because beta updates are handled in the app, not directly downloadable. If you want the latest beta update, you can enable it via the Settings > Options > Updates in the main 1Password 6 app.

    As for the Windows Store, UWP is limited to Windows 10 and later, there is no UWP support for Windows 8.1 or earlier version. We did have a separate build of 1Password Alpha (which wkleem pointed out) that worked on Windows 8.1 but we no longer offer that when we switched to the UWP design completely.

    Ah fantastic - I didn't even think to try the regular download as I didn't know this was out of beta.

    I think I saw the 'get 1Password 4.2' below the main button and assumed this was 4.2 also.

    I got it installed and I'm all set now, thanks.

    As an aside (on a tangetical note) Mike, any update on the UI 'highlight bar' feature I mentioned on the beta forums?
    https://discussions.agilebits.com/discussion/67696/alignment-highlight-bars-folders#latest

    Both the Mac client and Web client make copying items very easy but the Windows version isn't super 'copy friendly' if you have the window maximized - there is a lot of whitespace and sometimes it can be difficult determining which field I'm supposed to copy.

    That's great to hear, thanks for letting us know.

    I can appreciate why it may be confusing to see the 1Password 4 link below the download button. We're hoping to remove that once we get 1Password 6 updated to the point where it can also replace the previous 4th version such as complete local vault support.
