1 Password Trial: No password strength meter and other comments
Hi!
I'm giving 1Password a try before I plop down money for a year's subscription and have a question and a few comments.
1) Most importantly, I'm not seeing the password strength meter in either the application or in the extension, which I was planning on using to decide whether to replace some of my newer passwords. Is this because Is this because I'm using the trial period? If so, it would be helpful to have some documentation of the features missing in the trial, because otherwise I'm left wondering if there's a bug in the software.
2) The windows user guide is woefully out of date (version 4?). I've heard really good reviews of your product and I'm interested in it, but that makes me more hesitant.
3) Similarly, the first few user Youtube videos (especially Kchads) are well done, but seem to all use the Mac version that look very different and also seem to be for an older version (unless the mac version looks radically different).
4) Pricing options. It would be great if you had a larger variety of options for pricing that were prominently displayed. I'm married, so 2 person subscription makes sense or 6 person family subscription would make sense, but 5 leaves either one person out in the cold or is overkill for me and my wife.
Thanks!

Hi @xArc43 and thank you for your interest in a 1Password.com account!
1) Most importantly, I'm not seeing the password strength meter in either the application or in the extension, which I was planning on using to decide whether to replace some of my newer passwords. Is this because Is this because I'm using the trial period?
Nope, the trial you're using gives you the entire feature set that's currently available in the app. The password strength meter is currently only available when you edit an item and click into the password field.
This is an inconsistency with the other 1Password apps that we'll fix in due time.2) The windows user guide is woefully out of date (version 4?). I've heard really good reviews of your product and I'm interested in it, but that makes me more hesitant.
 That's a sore point and one we're going to fix as soon as possible. The thing that's really keeping us from diving in right away and doing it is the fact that 1Password 6 is still evolving very quickly. We're adding features or making necessary changes at a very high pace and it would make little sense to change the documentation weekly.
The core features are all explained in their respective articles in our knowledge base. If you can't find something using the search, feel free to ask us, we're always happy to help.
3) Similarly, the first few user Youtube videos (especially Kchads) are well done, but seem to all use the Mac version that look very different and also seem to be for an older version (unless the mac version looks radically different).
We've rebuilt 1Password 6 from the ground up, adhering to Microsoft's latest guidelines for making Windows apps and we're using the latest technologies to do so. The Mac version does look different at first glance because it's a Mac app but the core user interface elements are the same and the extension is going to look and behave similarly very quickly.
4) Pricing options. It would be great if you had a larger variety of options for pricing that were prominently displayed. I'm married, so 2 person subscription makes sense or 6 person family subscription would make sense, but 5 leaves either one person out in the cold or is overkill for me and my wife.
We priced the plans specifically to make this decision easy. You pay USD 2.99 for an individual account and USD 4.99 for a family account with up to 5 members. Want to add another member? That's just USD 1.– more :)
If there's ever anything else we can help you with, don't hesitate to write us again. Especially if you have more feedback.
Cheers,
Alex
