Hello @kwackboy,
Thank you for reaching out! :+1:
If you are considering other sync options in 1Password, besides Dropbox, please take a look at this article on our website:
Sync your 1Password data
The thing is that OneDrive and Google Drive are not supported at the moment. I would recommend you to take a closer look at 1Password account. In this case your encrypted vault will be stored on our servers and you won't have to worry about sync anymore – it will happen automatically, you just sign in to your account on any device, and all your passwords and items will be there.
1Password accounts are supported in the current version of 1Password for Android and 1Password 6 for Windows.
If you have additional questions, feel free to ask them. That's what our forums for! :)
Thank you!

Good day Greg,
Thank you for your quick response.
I have already purchased 1Password for windows etc are you saying I now must purchase a 1Password account monthly to be able to sync more than 2 devices?
Regards,
Mark

@kwackboy: I can't speak for Dropbox, but I'm a bit confused about the "2 devices" thing. Do you have a link to that information? As far as I know, it's unlimited. At least, I have a ton of devices linked to my Dropbox account...
Anyway, Greg just meant that you may want to consider a 1Password subscription, since it will give you access to all of the apps, the web interface, and does away with license management and sync configuration altogether — you simply login to your account to authorize a device and access your data:
1Password.com
If you're using a 3rd party sync service, we don't have any control over that. But if you purchase a subscription from us, we can guarantee that you can sync all of your devices since we own and operate 1Password.com.
I hope this helps. Be sure to let me know if you have any other questions! :)

Good day Brent,
Thanks for getting back to me. Yes, dropbox basic (Free) has now introduced a 2 x limit so I could not add an additional device (I have over 4 working devices and 8 registered). I have a screen shot too but this is a cut n paste:
" Sync limits have changed
Now you can only sync 2 computers with Dropbox Basic. Since you’re syncing 8, you’ll need to remove computers from your account to add a new one. You can keep them all by upgrading. Learn More"While I appreciate what you say 1Password should allow us to sync with all the major providers like onedrive, google drive etc like most other software providers. Also all the drive providers offer a free service which offers more space than your paid basic service. I already subscribe to onedrive etc and don't need another (Im also a google user so use google drive - I don't really need dropbox only for 1Pass)
I do appreciate 1Pass account offers more features but as haveing purchased 1Password software, a once off cost for the basic 1Pass account should be an option, and not a subscription model etc - I don't need drive space I just want to sync all my 1Password devices.
I will be moving from dropbox and this makes it difficult for me and 1Password.
Thanking you,
Mark

@kwackboy: Interesting. Sounds similar to Evernote. I've definitely got at least one "free" Dropbox account, and don't seem to have gotten an email about this...and I must just be looking in the wrong place on their website. I'm not saying I don't believe you. Just confused and trying to get it "straight from the horse's mouth" so to speak since I'm sure it will come up again. Thanks for bringing this up! :)
We'll continue to evaluate the 3rd party sync services out there, as we'd like to add more in the future. But again, we don't have any control over how they handle 1Password data, or other ways they can affect our customers (as evidenced by this change to Dropbox's policies that frankly has come as a surprise to me). You may be able to use OneDrive by syncing your vault to a local folder on your Android device, but I'm not confident that this is a good long-term solution either, as Microsoft has changed OneDrive over time as well (used to be called SkyDrive, and offered a lot more storage). I'm sorry about the position this puts you in, but that's a big part of why we've built 1Password.com in the first place: so we can make sure that our customers can access their 1Password data on all of their devices no matter what, without having to worry about what other companies might do in the future.
And while we may offer additional sync options in the future, I'm not sure that it's fair to expect that purchasing 1Password once upon a time with support for Dropbox that we should develop, test, and support additional sync options for free down the road. I'm sure you can appreciate that that really isn't sustainable. Just as its fair for you pay a subscription for OneDrive to maintain an infrastructure to sync your data, I think the same applies to any other service as well, whether that be Dropbox or 1Password.com. It costs money, and while I'm surprised that Dropbox has made this change now, I understand why. Why should they sync your data for free, but Microsoft gets paid? I think our time and effort is valuable too.

Brenty thanking you,
I am not suggesting this is for free, I realise you are a business. Was just saying I am happy to purchase updated versions of 1Password with these options etc. The model of buying 1Password and using dropbox is your idea not mine (as it was dropbox's for its free version with unlimited devices at the time, and google's drive for free) I am simply asking for dropbox alternatives which I think is a fair request.
BTW I did not find any literature on the 2 device limit on dropbox either, I got the message when trying to connect an additional device. if you give me an email address I will send you the screenshot of the message.
Appreciate your input and I think 1Pass is a great product.
Best wishes,
Mark

@kwackboy: Understood. hopefully we can add more in the future. :)

Not necessary, but thank you! What I'm really looking for is some information on Dropbox's website about this change. I imagine I'll need to reference it in the future.
Appreciate your input and I think 1Pass is a great product. Best wishes, Mark
Likewise, thanks for the kind words, and taking the time to share this feedback with us. I can't promise anything, but I think a stronger case can be made going forward for adding additional sync options in light of these changes with Dropbox. Cheers! :)

It appears that Dropbox has applied this limit to users in some countries (including Australia).
I'm in the US, and my gut feeling is that this restriction will come to Dropbox users in the US sooner or later.
I too, have asked for 1Password to support cloud drive services like Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive. I asked at least two years ago, if I had to guess.
I believe on some desktop versions of 1Password it's possible for the user to manually set locations of vaults. But on iOS (and 1Password 6 for Windows?) the user does not have as much control. This is a serious problem for 1Password users who rely on Dropbox in some countries, and may be a problem for all such users, regardless of country, very soon.
It seems like the sort of thing that should be a top priority.

@Leboyf: Thank you! No wonder this is so confusing! :dizzy:
Geographic restrictions. :-1:

@Logic Bus: I guess only time will tell.

iOS is really the only exception, since there is no filesystem access. 1Password for Windows version 6 already supports OneDrive and Folder Sync...but local vaults are read-only until full support is ready.

Well, I'd add an addendum to that: "This is a serious problem for 1Password users who rely on [free] Dropbox [accounts] in some countries".
It seems like the sort of thing that should be a top priority.
While I agree that it would be nice to offer more officially supported sync options (since you can unofficially use pretty much any you want, except on iOS), I disagree that this should be a top priority, for the simple reason that we're talking about 3rd party services that AgileBits does not own, operate, or control in any way. I think that the fact that we're talking about this change with Dropbox says it all, just as when Microsoft changed OneDrive storage a while back. With our own products, we have the power to ensure that you get what you pay for. Everything else is out of our hands.
