I had to uninstall 1Password because it quit working. Reinstalled, and now my local data wont load

I had the most recent version of 1Password, and it was running on windows 10. In the last few days it starting freezing, and asking to send error report, today it wouldnt do anything, even when I attempted a 'repair' under one of the menus, it froze and errored. So, I uninstalled completely, I have the last few backups saved to a dropbox folder, to insure they did not get uninstalled or erased too. Now after installing your most recent version of the program, when I choose dropbox, or folder, to locate my data already existing, nothing happens, and it can't seem to find it, please advise!!! Thanks

  • Hey @Identity9739198,

We're sorry to hear you've run into issues with 1Password.

Can you please tell us which version of 1Password for Windows you've been using when the issues started happening and which version of 1Password for Windows you're using now?

I want to try and help you as quickly as possible so I'm going to make a few assumptions based on what you wrote:

    1. If you made a backup of your data and stored it in Dropbox, you've probably been using 1Password 4, which creates daily backups of your data.
    2. If you then installed the latest version and can't load the backups when connecting to Dropbox or loading it from a folder, you're likely now using version 6.

The solution is to uninstall 1Password 6, install the latest version of 1Password 4 and then restore from a backup.

Please let us know if this helps!

    Cheers,

    Alex
