Cannot install browser extension under VISTA
Hi Team, after figuring out that 1Password (Vers. 6) does not support an installation on VISTA anymore, I tried to install at least the browser extension for FireFox. I get a constant "connection error" when FF tries to download the extension. Does that tell me that the extension will not run under VISTA either? Do I need the base program of 1Password have installed to use the browser extension?

@Addi: You definitely need the main 1Password app to use the extension. It cannot function otherwise. You may be able to use 1Password 4 on Vista though. But it sounds like you're suffering from a common issue caused by "security" software preventing Firefox from connecting securely to the server to install the extension. What are you using? You may be able to download it using another browser and then drag it to Firefox...but if something was stopping on my secure connections I'd want to know about it. Let me know what you find!

Brenty, you were right: my Kaspersky Internet Security 2017 prevented FireFox from downloading the extension from your server. I had to shutdown Kaspersky completely to get the extension downloaded. Just stopping it temporarely was not enough.
I had similar problems with Kaspersky in the past, mainly banking software. I think Kaspersky is checking for some certificates and blocks the connection, if it is not happy.
Unfortunately Kaspersky does not notify the user, nor can I find options to disable this behavior temporarely.BTW, in case you wonder why I am still on VISTA: I missed the point to upgrade to Win 7, and after WIN 7 there is no MS OS for me anymore. Will rather try Hackingtosh instead.
Cheers,

@Addi: Thanks for confirming. I'm glad you were able to work around that. We've been working with Kaspersky and other vendors to get them to stop interfering with 1Password and its extensions. We've had some success, but it seems that a new version is released often that breaks things again. I like to think that we have a pretty good reputation (we've been around 10 years — longer than some) so it surprises me that they'd block it in the first place. But I suppose a lot of this is automated nowadays. Good luck with the Hackintosh; and please send happy thoughts to Kasperky so we can get this resolved for all of our mutual customers! :chuffed:
