iPhone and iPad say Synch Starting but fails

I've tried the suggestions from the support topics about WLAN sync. iPhone and iPad see the Win 7 PC in the WLAN server list. Closing the WLAN Sync window on the PC causes the server to disappear on the iPhone and iPad. Opening the window on the PC causes them to come right back so they seem to see each other. The iPhone and iPad say "Sync Starting" then eventually time out.

Last successful sync was 25 weeks ago.

Any chance of ever having option to sync over Bluetooth?

    @blazingsun: It isn't possible to sync via bluetooth, and even if it were it's likely that whatever is interfering with the connection may cause trouble there as well — and bluetooth would be excruciatingly slow. WHIle it's good news that your devices can at least see each other on the network, unfortunately anything that prevents them from communicating will leave you unable to sync. Do you have "security" software or firewall/proxy settings that may be interfering?
