If I lose my device can they access my stuff?

If one of my devices is stolen, it sounds like they could hack my one password and then have access to everything. How is the one password protected?

    Hello @scotsheldon,

Thank for reaching out and raising good questions! :) I hope your holidays are going great.

We have a comprehensive article about it on our website:

If your device was lost or stolen, and it has your 1Password data on it

Basically, your 1Password data is encrypted with your Master Password. As long as you have a strong Master Password, someone who has access to your device won’t be able to view your passwords, credit cards, or anything stored in 1Password. That is why we advise to choose a strong one:

How to choose a good Master Password

Moreover, when you have 1Password account, your data is protected not only by your Master Password, but by an Account Key as well. Combined with your Master Password, your Account Key works similarly to two-factor authentication (2FA) but is much more powerful:

    About the Account Key

The security and safety of your data is our top priority and we take it very seriously. If you have any other questions about it, please feel free to ask them. Thank you! :+1:

    Cheers,
    Greg
